I am going to do some runs to Quebec City.

One place I have never been but wanted to go to.

I will get some layover time so WTF should I do?

QC is nice, I'd recommend spending some time in the old city, lots of history, great to walk around and some nice cafes. The Plains of Abraham and the museum there should also be visited.

If you're interested in hobbying there, I know Monica Del Fiore tours there occasionally, so you might want to plan accordingly.

1st thing to do? ...leave.

Quebec City is probably the most overrated place in North America.

Has anybody gone on the whale tours?
Not on on the Saint Lawrence.

I believe the closest on the North Shore are from Tadoussac at the mouth of the Saguenay.

The hobbying is one would expect pretty much entirely Francophone.

Lots of hotties with bedroom eyes. Wine 'em, dine 'em and 69 'em!

Eh, walk around - it's a fairly unique looking spot for North America. It's small, so you walk it fairly easily. Very scenic. Just go to Tripadvisor, find some places to eat, and enjoy the sites. It looks like a postcard.

Go on a walking tour.

There is a travel bureau office on the street right by the statue of Champlain (on his right side if I recall correctly). They host amazing walking tours in English. Well worth it.

This. Walk around the old city and enjoy. :) There are some great little restaurants.

Have brunch or dinner in the revolving restaurant. http://www.cielbistrobar.com/en/le-ciel

Or maybe visit nearby Montmorency Falls. https://www.sepaq.com/ct/pcm/?language_id=1

If you're going throughout the winter, try to book a room for the night at the ice hotel. Hard to book and a bit expensive but it's beautiful. I think you'd have to leave your truck somewhere though and rent a car. https://www.hoteldeglace-canada.com/

Make a shirt saying "I am Muslim" and walk around with a Sikh turban on your head.
I know a Sikh truck driver from Brampton, wears a turban and does the GTA, Montreal and Quebec City run. He hobbies in Quebec City. I have seen his wife who is a looker and he says she has closed her legs to him.

Your Sikh and Muslim suggestion is a non starter for many reasons.

Good idea.

Going to the Plains of Abraham is a no brainer.

One of the great military victories of history for many reasons. The French thought attack was impossible as the St Lawrence was notoriously hard to navigate. Then , after the British sailed up it they marched through mud then up the cliffs then had the classic fight on the plains of abraham where troops stand a few hundred feet away from each other then open fire until one side charges.

Go to Fort York to see how english soldiers were treated like disposable slaves. Three top reasons soldiers died were:

1 disease

2 disease

3 disease

But no worries, lots of starving peasants willing to join the army for the guarantee of a pound of bread and meat and a drink of whiskey every day.

As the year was 1759 it was before the French revolution (1789) so I doubt the French soldiers were treated any better

Hope you can find a place to park your truck. Quebec City is not truck stop friendly.

I used to park in St Foy among the motels and take the city buses into town except when I was booked to load or unload.

The whole old city was laid out and built when walking was the only option, rich or poor so you won't miss your wheels. And speaking of not missing: The Promenade overlooking the River behind the Chateau Frontenac, where they build the toboggan run in winter, and the Citadel which was supposed to repel the Brits and is the official residence of the GG when in town. A drink or a dinner on the old-fashioned grandeur and luxe of the Chateau might suit your tastes and vary the choice from the many the petites boites

I took a tour of the Ice Hotel last time I was there. Cool place (pun intended), but you couldn't pay me to spend the night there. Rooms were even colder than it was outside and super damp, which made it feel even colder. The rooms don't have doors or washrooms. If you have to go in the middle of the night, you need to make a trek to an outdoor porta potty.

Quebec City is nice though. Lots of funky places to see, eat, drink, shop etc. Walking is the best way to get around.
