What should the Raptors/Colangelo do in the off-season?

Flip wouldn't take the T.O. job and displace his old friend Smitch.

Besides, the Raptors are now a borderline playoff team in the weak conference, I doubt he would be interested.

Flip was given a raw deal.
Averaged about 59 wins during the regular season. Lost the Eastern Finals in three years with two of which being the favourite and having home court. Outcoached in both of those favourite roles. Two NBA Finals previously with the same cast of characters and a different coach. Hardly a raw deal.

I guess the coach had to take the brunt of it. I am not trying to say he was the best coach (that would go to Phil Jackson) but he is very good. I think he just lost the room and when that happens, it's game over. With Billups playing hurt and Wallace acting like a baby, (he's always been out of control) they were just plain overmatched this past year. Did you really expect the Pistons to beat the Celtics this year? It wasn't going to happen. The year before, LBJ just dominated plain and simple and the Cavs played very well. Miami was unbeatable two years ago (did they ever hit rock bottom quickly) with a healthy D-Wade in the lineup and a rejeuvenated Shaq.

I am not trying to make excuses for him but that's the way it is.

The Pistons are in need of some rebuilding, plain and simple.

not rebuilding ...just some tweaking...

In 2004, when the Pistons won it all....they had a team concept...and they worked harder than their opponents...or at least could never have been accused of being outworked..Since the 05 Season, when they were 1 win away from a repeat...the fame got to their heads....they don't need a rebuild..just a shakeup of the core..one of the 4...Billups, Rip,Prince, or Rasheed must go. Dumars will move one of those 4 ..whichever one he can get the best return for..Dumars has said this pubilcally..and he will do it....look for the Pistons to be in the top 6 teams in the league next season..no need for a rebuild with some of the good young talent like Stuckey, Maxiell and Amyre Johnson(who hasn't played in the playoffs...but is a good young talent)

Absolutely I expected them to beat the Celtics. They are just as good as the Celts defensively and what has killed them during the Flip era was lack of offense.

That's what has always bothered me about Flip. Flip was sold as an offensive guru and having a huge offensive playbook but yet the Pistons still went through the same 3 to 5 min draughts like under LB. Yes, the offensive output increased in the regular season but that's because they took more shots good or bad.

However, LB's teams were always money in crunch time because they always played the same way awhether in the preseason or in the Finals. The lack of discipline thanks to Flip's opening up of the offense is what I attribute to many of the offensive problems that killed them in the Conference Finals.

As for CLE, that's just another reason why Flip deserved to be canned since he was outcoached by Mike Brown.

MIA was a byproduct of the campaign to erect Wade as the next one. He did not deserve to go to the line as much as he did. That championship was won on the free throw line which is pathetic. I hardly call them "unbeatable".

Like N2G said, I hardly think they need to rebuild. Simply reload. No matter who is gone out of the four starters, youth will be inserted regardless. I think it's an assumption of their downfall as it is the rise of ORL, CLE or PHI. I would trust the GM who has a ring and fielded consistent winning teams as opposed to the pretenders still waiting to mount a challenge.

Why doesn't everyone read my posts correctly? I said that Flip was a very good coach not a great coach. He lost the room and is was game over. Let's leave it at that.

I think anything less than a Championship for the Celtics would be a disappointment this year. I was not surprised that they beat Detroit. The only thing I am surprised at is that I thought it would go seven games.

I shouldn't have said that Miami was unbeatable but they did end up winning the Championship. BTW, you do not give the credit that Wade deserves. When healthy, he is about as good as anyone the league, goest to the line often because he hits the paint at full speed and uses his body with reckless abandon.

Like I said in my earlier post, "some rebuilding" not a complete rebuild. Detroit has some very good young players and they look to have a bright future.
