The NFL said the game wont be played this week. Not sure how they can sort this out? Its not like they can just play a double header or add a game next wedneday when both teams are going to the playoffs. If it was between two non playoff teams it would be easy but there is a lot of seeding implications and would create an unfair advantage or disadvantage depedning on what KC does. All 3 teams have a shot at the 1 spot and a first round bye. Maybe Im not seeing it but I cant comprehend how this is going to work out - they really should have played the game today. The possible scenerios :

1 - Move the Bengals and the Bills games scheduled this weekend to a Thursday double header and have the Bengals - Bills on Monday or Tuesday
2 - Call a tie
3 - use the score when the game was called - I think the Bills were up 7-3?
4 - use percentages and dont play the game
5 - decide after this weekend if playing another game will change the outcome of the 1 seed - if the Chiefs and Bengals lose and the Bills win this weekend the Bills get the 1 seed anyways.

Initially I thought that 4 was the most likely but now I am thinking that 5 is most likely and then resort to 4, but if the Cheifs win they are guaranteed the 1 spot in this scenerio.

I had parlays on at BET MGM and Draft Kings, the former called all bets void and credited the bet amounts. DK believes the game will be re-scheduled and left the
bets intact. The public outcry is to cancel the game and not re-schedule it, but I don't think that will happen. The game has to be played before the playoff seedings/matches/dates are set.

I guess the most likely scenerio if they play the game is to give all the playoff teams a bye while the Bengals and Bills play in what should have been the 1st week of playoffs. - Now that I am thinking about it this is the most likely scenerio with the only venue possibly effected would be the Superbowl which could either be postponed for a week or more likely - dont have a bye week before it that way it remains in tact.

In any event all the teams that lose in the playoffs will cry foul. None of these scenerios are fair, which is why the game should have been played today but the bye week scenerio is the most fair and most teams wont be complaining about an extra week to get healthy and prepare.

I think that moving the Super Bowl would be a logistical disaster. Too many dominoes in play.

Flip a coin.

Hmmm coin flip there is one I didn't consider. Yes moving the suoerbowl is highly unlikely but in the event they do play I could see them not having a bye week before the superbowl and giving the playoff teams a week off

I would go with either calling it a tie or just leave the game unplayed and use winning percentages.

I was listening to Peter King on the Fan590 driving home from work today and he raised the point that it is not unprecedented to contemplate leaving games unplayed. During COVID this was a distinct possibility although in the end they got all of the games in.

Also, if I recall correctly, back in the day not all US college football teams played the same number of games but they sorted it out and assigned bowl games nonetheless.

Anyway, I am a fan of both the Bills and Bengals and I’m not worried about it. Sometimes things happen and you deal with it as best you can and just play through. If neither of these teams advance in the playoffs it won’t be because of this.

A tie screws both teams and the Bills most likely lost the 1 seed to the Chiefs. It woild ve more likely to leave the score as is and award the win to Cincinnati

One possibility thrown out yesterday is to replay/resume the game the week after the regular season ends.
This would push the playoffs back a week, and the conference championship games would be the week before the Super Bowl, which is normally an open weekend.

The Bills hold the tie-breaker versus the Chiefs, after defeating them 24-20 in week #6. I think the NFL will go with option #5, but only if the Bills-Bengals game would affect top two seeding.

Earlier I had stated BET MGM voided my BUFF/CIN bet and Draft Kings left my bet open. Earlier today, DK credited me back my bet funds, I guess they don't think the game will be resumed/rescheduled either. No harm, no foul, just re-bet the funds on my Week 18 locks : KC, JAX , PHI , IND & GB ( M/L not spread ) .

I think they will resume the game next Thursday after the season is done. Then have to re-jig the wild card playoff schedule to accommodate.

If:

Bills beat Patriots, and Ravens beat Bengals, I don't think the game will be resumed. It's unlikely that Bills' starters would play longer than in the first couple of preseason games, because they would already be guaranteed a first round bye, and the Bengals can't drop below the third seed. It would be a difficult sell to a TV network, with a game like that up against prime time shows returning for second half episodes. If the Ravens beat the Chiefs as well, the game would essentially be meaningless as far as playoff seeding goes.

I'm guessing: TB rests, NYG rests, PHI wants the #1 seed badly, SEA is hungry, PIT is hungry, SF and the BOYS watch the PHI scoreboard ( all 4:00pm games) & HOU/CHI are playing for the Bryce Young ( BAMA QB ) sweepstakes. Bet accordingly and good lucky guys/gals in Week 18 !
