Of course, Toronto fans should not care about Montreal. LOL!!! With 84 points and three more games to play, the Leafs at most can reach 90 points. Whereas the Habs already have 91 points and there is nothing the Leafs can do to catch the Habs. So let the Sabres or Rangers or even Carolina do the honor then.
I'm talking about anytime....not now, not in the playoffs, never.

The Leafs may not catch Montreal but the possibilty that the Leafs can knock out the HABS in the last games of the season exists. Carolina is 4 points back of Montreal and the Leafs can help Carolina out.

Entertaining idea to think that Montreal does not gain a point out of the remaining 3 games. At 91 points total, there is the possibility that they do not go to playoffs when teams such as Carolina, Buffalo, and the Rangers keep winning.

Again, its easy to switch tracks and play another storyline when you were owned.
And BOY did Montreal get OWNED by the Bruins.

7-0

A week or so after the incident in Montreal and nothing. No one on Montreal had the balls to even look at Chara. And after Recchi shot his mouth off did anyone talk to him ?

Pacioretty should ask for a trade.

I would love to see Boston finish third and Montreal sixth. Bruins in four.
CBC would carry the massacre, I mean series, as their #1.

The Habs clinched a playoff berth last night with 93 points. They may not have as much incentive to win the remaining two games vs their tough Ontario rivals. On the other hand, the Sabres and the Rangers are still fighting for their playoff lives and have more incentive to win the remaining games. Having a new owner who really cares as a fan really motivates the Sabres to become a better team. Look for the Sabres to dislodge Montreal to become the sixth seed and avenge last year's playoff defeat against Boston. *Where is the clap hands smilie Freddie??? LOL*

Another moronic statement by a poster who has made a history of it on here.

Who exactly would you have fight the biggest and strongest guy in the league?

You do realize that Montreal prior to the 7-0 game had been beating the Bruins repeatedly all year right? Winning 4 out of 5 games.

They most likely won't beat Boston but I guarantee you they will not go out in 4.

Speaking of moronic statements ... I still read some of yours.

Guarantee ? Hmmm ... and if the Bruins sweep ?

I'll make you a bet.

Since you are so confident the the Bruins will sweep.

If they sweep I'll be gone from here for let us say 3 months and if they don't then you have to do the same.
LOL!!! You two are assuming the Habs will definitely play the Bruins once playoffs start, whereas the teams are still moving up and down of the playoff ladder. What if they do not play each other at all this post-season? Perhaps you two want to wait till the playoff seats are set in stone before betting the fortunes of the Habs and Bruins eh???

It surely was a massacre for Boston. And it doesn't speak well for Monteal that they came out flat in that particular game. Having young player out for the season with a concussion and a broken neck does affect the players that play with him. As has already been pointed out, the Habs are 3-1-1 against the Bruins this year. Nobody knows which Habs team will show up on the playoffs. But if the Habs win, it won't be by beating up Chara, that is for sure.

Habs are now a lock for 6th or 7th place. I believe if Buffalo loses or ties Flyers tonight, or if the Habs tie or win against the leafs tomorrow, then it will be Bruins and Habs in the first round. Flyers are motivated to win tonight as first place in the division is up for grabs. Ryan Miller is also struggling with a upper body injury and may not play. All that aside, you are correct...its still up in the air who will play whom. But its looking more and more like Habs and Bruins in the first round.

No. I have always though these type of bets are stupid. In the unlikely event Montreal wins a game I would not want to be out with the NHL playoffs on the MLB season just getting underway.
Besides I am likely to forget if I read something that piques my interest.
I might be more inclined to agree if it were a week or two and was restricted only to the sports forum and to be served after the playoffs.

Very well, Buffalo won against Flyers last night, clinched a playoff spot and tied with Montreal with 94 points. Montreal stills holds the tie breaker advantage and is therefore the 6th seed. However, If the Sabres won today by beating Columbus and Montreal either lost or gain only one point vs Toronto, Sabres will then be the 6th seed. Montreal would be at the 7th place. Boston is now the third seed but may pass Philly to become the second seed by winning the last two games and Philly losing the last game of the season. Both Montreal and Buffalo will do no worse than being the 7th seed and the best either team can do is being the 6th seed. We have to wait till the dust settled to see if it is really Montreal vs Boston in the first round of playoffs.

Right you are. There are so many permutations still, that's its all up in the air. The matchups won't be decided until tomorrow when the regular season closes out. But 6th and 7th place are between Buffalo and Montreal.

So indeed it is Boston vs Montreal in Round 1 of playoffs. It is unlikey either team can finish off the other in 4 games, unless if one of them just lay an egg. LOL!!!
