Being a non-technical man, i would like to know what is the difference between GSM verses HSPA technology which we have now started to hear that Bell Wireless Cell Smart Phones are all HSPA Technology, so which Technology Telus Wireless Smart Cell Phones are using?
Which is a better technological wise, which has more wider coverage, or is more advance, If i change my Server Company from Rogers to Bell or Telus will my unlock Blackberry Bold 9700 will operate with their SIM Card of HSPA Technology? without any problem. Rogers Wireless claims they have 3G Wireless Technology for all Smartphones, do Bell & Telus also now uses 3G Signals for its better speed for browseing on smart phones.
Will someone with full knowledge clear my confusions?
as i am planning to change my Wireless Server Company (Rogers) either to Bell or Telus if they are offering me equivalent services with better monthly wireless voice & Data small plan, but i would definitely like to be very clear of my confusions before i take any initiative to change the Rip-off Rogers, who has become bigger then its own shoe size:) so its better to say goodbye to them sooner then later. After CRTC declared System Access Fees as illegal, now Rogers, & Bell Started their new Drama Fees by introducing a new head under CARRIER FEES & rogers charges $ 2.58 monthly & Bell Charges $1.99 monthly fees added to bill from their new clients, as there is no authority to check them that they just cannot introduce NEW OVER-HEADS in clients bills.

Thank-U

the simple answer is that it's just a newer version of GSM. Bell/Telus network is not compatible with the older GSM phones though.

as for your blackberry 9700 once it's unlocked I would say yes it should work on the bell/telus network but I can't be certain. rogers installs a custom OS on their phones so.....

I would just call bell and ask. Also I would think the cancellation fees on the blackberry bold 9700 for rogers is huge?
Thank-u ASN for such a promt reply! I would do the needful and follow up your advise accordingly. I am not worried about Rogers Cancellation Fess as my Rogers Blackberry Bold 9700 is my own i have bought from someone on cash basis and i am not on any contract with Rip-off Rogers (The new name i have given them) You are very correct that Rogers is well known for swindling monies from its subscribers is a known fact by one and all, soon the competition would begin between Rogers, Bell, Telus, and maybe a new
Server Company T-Mobile who is coming to Ontario maybe early next year will surely teach a good lesson to Rip-Off Rogers:)

Bell still charges the Access Fee, which is illegal. I asked them about it, and they told me that it would be lowered to $6.95, from $8.95 per month on contract renewal. No farking way. That is why, when my farking contract with them ends, I am ditching the crooks. So much for nearly 10 years of loyalty.

Rogers has 3G, but not everywhere. Where they don't have 3G, they offer EDGE or 2G. On the other hand, both Telus and Bell now offer 3G nationwide. They built a whole new network and skipped 2G to go right to 3G. With Rogers, if you're out in the country, you'll likely have to settle for 2G data speeds, as they focused their 3G expansion mainly in the major urban centres.

Both Bell and Telus eliminated the System Access Fee and increased their rates by $5 across the board. They also got rid of the 911 fee. So even though the rates are up by $5, you're still ahead since the other fees would have totaled more than that.
