Almond milk contains more nutrients than other dairy milk alternatives like rice milk. The health benefits provided by this option even match dairy choices. Almond milk works as a great alternative for those with soy and lactose allergies.

Here are 6 benefits of almond milk:

Benefit #1: Weight Management

Plain almond milk without added sugars or flavoring contains 60 calories per each 8 oz serving size. This option works well for people looking to lose or maintain weight.
The low caloric content of almond milk causes less of an impact on our totally daily consumption of food calories. Some milk varieties contain more sugars than the cereal that they get combined with.

Benefit #2: Heart Health

Almond milk contains no cholesterol and only 5 mg of sodium per serving. Consuming foods low in sodium and cholesterol help us to maintain better heart health and normal blood pressure.
Without cholesterol, almond milk also decreases our chances of gaining bad cholesterol levels, all while increasing the good cholesterol levels. Almond milk also contains 150 mg of potassium in every serving. This mineral works to promote healthy blood pressure.

Benefit #3: Blood Sugar Friendly

Unlike other milk alternatives, the plain almond option contains only 8 grams of carbohydrates per serving. The 7 grams of sugars that make up the carbohydrate content have a limited affect on our blood sugar levels. When we consume simple sugars, our metabolic functions tend to miss the nutrients, storing much of the carbs as fat.
Instead, the low amount of sugars in almond milk have a low glycemic nature, meaning our bodies fully digest them and use them as energy. Diabetics benefit from this characteristic as well.

Benefit #4: Bone Health

Almond milk contains 30% of our recommended daily value of calcium and 25% of Vitamin D. These nutrients work together to build strong bones in men, women, children and infants.
Vitamin D also helps improve immunity and cell function. Some studies have shown that Vitamin D helps decrease osteoporosis and even Alzheimer’s disease. The magnesium in found in almond milk helps absorb more of the calcium provided by the nutritious beverage.

Benefit #5: Skin Care

Every serving of pure almond milk contains 50% of our recommended daily value of Vitamin E. This powerful nutrient has antioxidant abilities in that it helps regulate Vitamin A use and availability.
More importantly, Vitamin E acts the primary regulatory nutrient that improves skin health.

Benefit #5: Eye Health

The moderate levels of Vitamin A found in almond milk helps keep our eyes functioning properly. Vitamin A directly influences the eye’s ability to adjust to differences in light.

Benefit #6: More Muscle Power

Even though almond milk only contains 1 gram of protein per serving, it does contain B Vitamins in the form of riboflavin, plus other muscle regulating nutrients like iron. Each serving of almond milk contains about 4% of our recommended daily intake of iron, which helps muscles absorb and use protein for energy, growth and repair.
Iron also regulates certain cell functions like oxygen absorption.

Get it all

Anybody drinking these "milk replacements", which includes me, if you see a cloudy film in the bottom of the glass when you have just finished, that's a lot of the vitamins and minerals etc., that are added.
I hit the glass with a shot of water, and finish it off.

almond milk has less sugars than other milk replacements and it contains no antibiotic residue and it's not pasteurized. Contains protein, calcium and Vitamin D, E, zinc, copper. magnesium.....tastes great too. I drink Almond Breeze Original and for cereal I use the Unsweetened. I avoid any product with the word vanilla on it ( except ice cream). I switched from Rice Dream and Lindt 70% to Almond Milk and Lindt 90% and immediately cut my sugar intake drastically :)

I thought it was still soy milk with added almond flavoring!
So then I suppose you don't think "Baby Oil" is made from squeezed babies?

Almomd "milk" is made by simply soaking almonds in water, then grinding the almonds in water. Strain the pulp through a sieve and there you have it.

Horchata is a traditional almond or tiger nut drink of spanish origin. No ho's have been ground up, despite the name.

The good thing about almond milk is that it enables you
to assimilate the nutrients of almond. Raw almond OTOH
would just pass through your digestive tract intact.

I can't believe for a second that eating raw almonds, the way they should be eaten, just like any other types of nuts, isn't healthy for you. You need that ruffage. The gastric acids will break down the chewed almond.

Just like eating an orange whole (without the peel) is healthier than drinking a big glass of OJ (sugar-spike and no fibre).

It's really coconut water.

Coconut water contains magnesium and potassium, etc., I believe. A true natural electrolyte drink. I doubt almond milk is equivalent as a thirst quencher.

.... and don't forget that the brown husk of the almonds is peeled first before grinding (I would imagine, otherwise you wouldn't have that milky colour).

I've been buying Coconut Water (there are a few good brands, like One, Thirsty Buddha and some no name products from a Chinese grocery store (I think T.A.J. is the product name?), the latter being cheap and low in sugar, not like the product made by Grace in Richmond Hill).

I will try Almond Milk too. I still like my skim milk though (the only kind I drink).

I'm actually looking at both coconut water, packaged by PC, and coconut milk, made by Silk, and they're both different. The water has far less ingredients and nutrients, although it reports magnesium as 10% of your daily intake in a cup. But the milk has way more saturated fat, along with vitamin A, D and B12. Also Calicium and Zinc, but no mention of magnesium. It says they use coconut cream for the milk and coconut water in the PC package.

I just got hooked on Almond milk about a month ago. I drink Almond milk and Soy milk (original) on a daily basis at home. I only drink regular milk when the other two are unavailable.
