This script worked for me. Just copy to a new text file and save or name it as wga_fix.cmd. Then run it.

From what I understand, an update in June created a lot of havoc with customers complaining about being "harassed" by Windows GA notifications. As a result, Microsoft revised the program in an update so that it only appears occasionally (I think on startup?).
There have also been suggestions that sometime in the not too distant future Microsoft might put out an update that could lock-down computers using illegal Windows operating systems. This is just a rumour but it is something to think about. If at all possible, don't download and install the Windows Genuine Advantage update (in other words, don't do Automatic Updates with Recommended Install).

There is a patch and removal tool that works do a goolge search for RemoveWGA not hard to fine and it works.
