So I work out and watch my food. Lost 35 lbs, my face arms legs everything is skinnier but my belly. Whats a guy have to do to lose weight in the belly area? I was told hundreds of crunches don't work and that some diets hit belly fat. :frusty:

First congrats you are doing a fine job (down 35 lbs) consistency is key , Persevere and keep going , the crunches will build your ab muscles but diet is the only way to loose the fat
- side note I am shredded but I too have some fat still to loose just below the belly button and am working on it .

The belly is always the last area to go simply because of biology. The fat cells in the belly are more resistant to liquify than elsewhere in the body. It's one of those lovely heritages from our time as tribes in the wilderness and the insecurity of food sources. Our bodies modified to store fat for times of famine. Also your dominant body type matters. If you're a mesomorph or ectomorph etc.

As much as I hate running for the sake of running that has worked for me. Another avenue that you may pursue is a sport like squash or you bite down on the pillow and do high intensity interval training. HIIT has worked well for me but it's a motherfucker while you're doing it. Right now the new rave is f45 studios. Get a free one week past near where you live and give it a go. I enjoy it and it's full of women so even if you don't tap a civilian it's nice scenery.

Finally, after 40 men start to lose testosterone. This may be a factor too. So keep up the great work but tweak your diet. If you're over 40 you may have to restrict calories even more to see results.

If one can make abdominal fat go away just
simply by losing weight having a fatty liver will
not have to be treated as a disease. Not even starving
could fix the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. It could
even worsen the condition.

It's about maintaining muscle elsewhere while you keep losing weight. If you dont work out and eat a lot of protein then you will just look bad when you lose weight

It will go when you lose more fat. Keep going until you have a six pack.

More power to you Twister.

I'm attempting to lose weight now, 8 lbs so far. If you want to lose the belly fat, crunches alone won't do it. You have to hit the entire core - all the support muscles. Two exercises that helped me:

Bicycles crunches - with your hands behind your head crunch while simulating riding a bike and move your torso so that your right elbow touches your left knee and vica versa.

Reverse crunch - on a Roman chair work your back muscles. Use your back to move from a perpendicular to horizontal position. WARNING, your back is going to be stiff if you've never done it before. Persevere and your belly will tighten with the added benefit of no more back aches.

Good luck, hope this helps.

After the fat burns away, we still have a certain amount of … call it skin (with all it's under-layers and substructures) that used to stretch around the fat. Nothing 'burns' that off, and the sort of elasticity that might 'sproing' it back tight is something only very young kids have. Us older guys hafta be patient while we exercise to build new muscle, and get enough protein to to fuel the process. But after seven years we will have all new cells, and mostly they won't grow where they're not needed. How long did it take to make that spare tire? Give it time.

Losing weight means nothing
Many people starve themselves to lose weight
All that accomplishes is deceasing your muscle mass and increasing your fat (in places like the belly)

It should be obv but you need to exercise the areas you wish to lose weight as well as ensure your calories do not drop too low (doing so puts body into starvation which slows metabolism and increases fat long term)

You cannot target areas of fat on the body, fat loss happens as a whole all over the body depending on calories in and calories out. Fat around the midsection is always the last to go even in me and I barely have any. To get my 8 pack for competition my diet is key. Inbox me your meal plan, you should have one.. I'll look at it. If you don't...then there's your problem...you have no clue what you are taking in and burning off...I weigh every morsel of my food and know exactly what I am eating when I have to cut for a shoot or stage. Also, cardio. Hiit is the best form, water intake??? What's your water intake. Believe me your probably not doing enough, no offence but fat loss is basic physiology..its not genetics and there's no special exercise ...I do absolutely no ab work for mine. Its diet and cardio. Hate to burst your bubble on here people but theres a lot of typical myths on this thread lol... my coaches are the best in the country and they are some ppl that have taught me a lot... you have to keep going, you can't spot target fat in a workout, crunches are useless, it's not genetics, theres no different types of fat cells lol.....a fat cell is a fat cell is a fat cell lol. In conclusion...keep going....get a diet plan, do you even know your macros? The water like I said and cardio...sauna even as well..also cut sugar, and alcohol out...go nuts Hope this helps tho

It takes more time in the belly for men and for women they seem to lose slower in the hips and thighs.

I agree with Elle. But I do almost no cardio and almost no ab work. Just some basic strength training and the Keto diet.

A hunter gatherer diet is best.

Lots of protein and every vegetable and fruit on the planet for your intestines.

I need not mention "no food with an ingredients list" famous quote.

PS. Very important absolutely no sugar and limit your carbs to 25 grams a days or less ( ideally try to limit to no carbs if possible). In the present of insulin in your bloodstream will prevent the fat burning hormone to be released. That will stop burning fat / visceral fat. You also need to do intermittent fasting. ( Go from 3 meal a day to 2 meal a day plus no snacking).

PPS. Keto diet and intermittent fasting that the way to go. Lots of video on YouTube on it.
