So any cartoon that uses an octopus is slandering Jews because of a cartoon that was used 70 years ago ? The cartoon was regarding facebook's continuous involvement in everyone's computers and now through the purchase of What's App (the other logo shown) - text messaging.

Its a legitimate concern. Facebook is tracking the lives of millions of people and soon will have the ability to track their communication as well. If the NSA doesn't really own Facebook - they should consider it.

It says a leopard cannot change its' spots, which is why sometimes history may repeat itself as the spores lie dormant waiting for the right environment to come out again. Are you surprised or naïve? On another note, Merkel is in Israel today, with Germany being currently Israel's greatest European ally for many reasons.

It was a common metaphor used in the Nazi period, also the exaggerated nose was another metaphor used by Nazi cartoonists. If educated people outside Germany know this, absolutely an editorial cartoonist in Germany knows this.

The howl that has gone up certainly indicates that a great many Germans instantly spotted it. The fact that the story has been picked up by newspapers around the world also indicates that there is something too it.

Really, you're a mind reader? Obviously though a rather prejudiced mind reader.

It isn't the octopus thing. Its is the jewish looking fellow in the center of the pic. Unless it is a reference to a particular person who looks like that in a position of authority in facebook [and I had an econ prof who kinda looked like that], the message is a bit obvious. Quite frankly Ardie could of used much better pics to illustrate the point. [Unless he really thinks it is the octopus that makes the difference]

Why use such a sterotypical image in such a context. A bit like illustrating a crime using klan style black figures. Bit of a putz move.

Actually I didn't really want to spend time going through Der Stürmer cartoons, too come up with a better example. Unfortunately I agree that I had to correct that. Cartoon presented solely for purposes of illustration!

Jeez it's just an octopus. I've seen the same type of image used by Iran to signify Saudi Arabia's meddling in neighboring nations. Zuckerburg is not really that devout of a Jew anyway. I doubt he would take offense.

If it's "just an octopus" then the editorial cartoonist is the most historically unaware editorial cartoonist in all of Germany perhaps even in all of Europe!

Depending on the age of the cartoonist I can see him or her not being aware of the reference.

Using an octopus to show a large entity whether political or corporate and its tentacles spreading everywhere is a common theme. If the "big nose" is specifically a reference to Zuckerburg then while borderline considering the history I think its a stretch. Why not give the benefit of the doubt rather than automatically label?

Now Aardie and his friends have had their large clusterfuck about a cartoon. Hurrah. Didn't remember Aardie being indignant about cartoons directed at islamic people.

An octopus is a very common theme in cartoons, used about both the sovjets and the US. And you are not allowed to draw a cartoon about Zuckerberg, who may or may not be jewish.

Alex Jones is married to a Jew. Yet he uses similar pictures on his website to denote the builderbergs.
