It drove me crazy not being able to go onto computer and using my cell phone. It made even crazier w/daughter going crazy w/boredom. She was hating the fact of NO computer, stereo and TV. Reality being that we were not only ones w/out power BUT everyone was and therefore there was no going out to amuse self either!!

Kitchen Appliance - Kettle or Coffee Maker

The only thing I really missed was not being able to make (get) a coffee. I read a book Thurday night and listened to the (battery) radio, but with no power still the next day, not being able to make coffee was painful.

Bank Machine... I had no cash. Found one working the next morning so that was okay. Didn't miss anything really except the fact that I couldn't cook. I was hungry. Had a nice bbq with friends by candle light so all went ok.

Cash was a definitely a problem. Debit card and credit card were no use. I used my car stereo to listen to the update on the blackout.

I'd had an exhausting day with little sleep the night before, so when I got home I crashed hard. A buddy called me on my cell about an hour after I fell asleep, and I was in that state of 'you've slept enough to recharge, so you'll be up for a while now'.

So, I grabbed some supplies: hamburgers, buns, Koolaid, a bottle of rye, and a couple of candles and headed out to a friend's to create a 'power out party'.

Spent the evening bbq'ing the hamburgers, mixing rye with Koolaid (brought back memories of being a teenager) and sitting in a hot tub looking up at the stars with no light pollution getting in the way.

Rather a good way to spend a thursday night I thought.
