Just thinking back to the pre-pandemic days when you could go out to a concert and enjoy yourself. It's been quite a while now since we've been able to go to one. With that said, just wondering what concerts you've been to and which were your favorites. I'll go first.

I've seen the Tragically Hip, Styx, Matthew Good Band, GOB, New found glory, Tea Party, the Who, Bif Naked, Lady Gaga, Tom Petty, Jason Aldean, Kings of Leon, The killers, and Zac Brown band, theres a few others I can't remember them all atm.

My fav concerts tho were Tragically Hip, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Lady Gaga.

Your turn.

I saw Kate Micucci in Montreal maybe 10 years ago give or take a few. Riki Lindhome showed up mid show so I guess it's a G&O show.
Only about 10 or 15 people in a small venue as it was mid week. Pity there was no meet and greet they do that with some shows but I guess with a second show that night, timing.

Went to see MacLean & MacLean back in the early 90's at a campus bar with a rep for playing music too loud. Only time I ever went to a campus bar in the evening in over a decade of being a uni student. My ears were ringing that night.

I'd hazard a guess most music bands play way too loud so I am not tempted. Also most folks have their good songs and their bad songs and I don't like to have to sit through the B side material. So recorded music over live for me.

I just saw that you mentioned James Brown and the famous flames live at the apollo. I watched James Brown on youtube when he was at the apollo, just awesome! I so wish I was there. What a musician!
That guy knew how to work a crowd. I went on a james brown binge about a month ago. He was the only thing I listened to when I went running. I'm too young to have seen him in concert but man, what a legend!

Ramones was at a Montreal club named Le Pretzel Enchainé, close to Place des Arts, capacity about 400. August, 1979, on the Rock 'n' Roll High School movie tour. There was no air conditioning in the club, but none of The Ramones took off their leather jackets. About 40 feet from the stage, there were a few stairs leading to the refrigerated area where they stored the beer, so everybody who knew would go down the stairs for a couple of minutes, because the temperature was about 20 degrees C less down there. Twenty-three songs played in an hour and five minutes. Tickets cost about five bucks.

The Clash was September, 1979, on the Give 'Em Enough Rope tour, Theatre St-Denis, capacity 2,000. There was no one between me and the stage, and Joe Strummer was two feet away the whole show. Tacked to the drum stand was a copy of the front page of that day's New York Post with headline DOCS REATTACH WOMAN'S ARM. The Clash let people up on stage for the final encore, White Riot, and security just stood in the back, guarding amps. They didn't play Tommy Gun. Opening the show was Toronto all female punk band The B Girls, and Lee Perry was DJ between sets. The Undertones had just released their first album, and were all around 20 years old.

wow thats crazy, tickets for $5.00?! Amazing times. They don't do concerts like that anymore.
Awesome memories. Wondering why they didn't play tommy gun tho? Thats a good song. I couldn't imagine being 2 ft away from Joe Strummer, that would be a dream. He was such an amazing musician.
You scored! Were you able to get a beer from the refrigerated area at the ramones concert? Seems like it was super hot that day lol and no air conditioning? woof.

Best concert ever:

U2 at Maple Leaf Gardens in March of 1992 for their Achtung Baby concert series.

They were so fucking good, I could have cried.

Nothing I've seen by any musician before or since came close.

Honourable mention to Roger Waters "The Wall" (which I saw 3 times at 3 different venues from 2010 to 2013).

Without a doubt THEE most impressive concert I've ever seen. (And I've seen Waters at least 10 times live and looking forward to his concert next summer.)

TSO are amazing. We were sat near the tesla coils. It's a visceral feeling when they go off with all the lights and pyros. Glastonbury is a great experience, I haven't been to one in about 20 years. From what I see on TV it seems to have become a little bourgeoise and commercial with the glamping and all that. But there is something special gathering with tens of thousands of other people to jump around in a muddy field to great music late into an English summer evening (Kanye killing Bohemian Rhapsody was a low point.. The Who the next day showed what real rock and roll stars do).
Even if they are not your thing I would recommend watching some Iron Maiden live videos. Even some of those reaction videos on YouTube. They have been around for well over 40 years, defined a genre of music with next to no mainstream radio or TV play and just go from strength to strength. Many bands at that point in their career just seem to be going through the motions, almost like a cover band of their success years. Think of the show Kiss did in Dubai last year... Or Def Leppard, now I do love Def Leppard, but when was their last album or new material? Maiden alternate tours based on the new album and classic tours and each successive tour kicks the production up several notches. Even though they are all in their late 50s or early 60s they hit the stage with an energy many bands less than half their age could hope to end a show with. They then spend the next 2+ hours whipping tens of thousands of screaming idiots into a frenzy. Being there is an amazing experience of community. There is no race, colour or creed. Just Maiden fans. Look up their Rock in Rio performance from 2019. I mean, if you start the show with a full size Spitfire over the stage it sets the bar high.

You didn't mention your favs tho ;D
So you're making it tough for me.

I saw Springsteen the 1st time he came to Toronto. He played at Seneca Field House, a gymnasium.

The Clash at O'keefe/Hummingbird/Sony centre. After the opening act by the Undertones (Feargal Sharkey) made the crowd crazy it was the only time that I moved farther away from the stage than my tickets were for. I'd never seen a mosh pit before, it was the late 70's.

Stevie Wonder at the CNE was amazing.

Surprisingly, Los Lobos at Massey Hall rocked. And excellent musicianship.

I didn't mention it earlier but I was at a Crossroads concert at Madison Square Garden organized by Eric Clapton with about 20 great guitar acts. Probably about 15 years ago. I'm wearing the t-shirt I bought there right now.

It would be unfair to try to name more. I have about 4,000 CDs and I'd love to show you my collection. Let me know if you're interested.

Pretty much everyone in this thread mentioned the clash in their concert lists and also named them as their top favs.
I am a little surprised that so many loved the clash. they are not from my generation yet I still think they are super awesome. I can't even mention the clash without people my age asking who is that lol
yes shack, that'd be cool! That's a lot of albums, I bet it's quite an interesting collection!
