I have 3 older cds by him, going back to Ashgrove, best song was Rio Grande and some of his music had similarities to old Gord Lightfoot songs. Also, he recorded Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, favourite cut was Don't Make Promises You Can't Keep also the King of California featuring songs connected with that state, my fav was Kern River. Unfortunately, his cd with his brother Phil? was disappointing to me. Overall I really enjoy his music, for what it's worth, LOL.
