Strange question, but I was in a group talking about men's formal styles and how they changed over the decades, and someone said that in the period 1954-1965 the bright colored silk brocade dinner jacket worn with black tux pants was popular, esp. in red color with Vegas lounge singers/entertainers. OK, but I can't recall seeing photos of any singer from that period wearing a red dinner jacket when on stage. Rat Pack, etc. wore white jackets with black pants, or standard black tux from pics I've seen, but does anyone know of any entertainer of the period who wore a red formal tux jacket in Vegas? Is this an urban legend, or did they really wear red tux jackets on stage?
Thanks to anyone who recalls any specific names of the 'red jacket lounge singer era'.
