Week 8 -took a beating but keeps on ticking

Here`s who I like this week:

Houston over Tennessee: David Carr`s fine play is the best kept secret in the AFC this year; plus the old rule that when you have two lousy teams you should take the points.

Philadelphia over Jacksonville: How many flukes can go against the Eagles? It has to even out sometime. The Jags have issues, especially with Leftwich`s status up in the air.

St. Louis over San Diego: Too big a spread to pass up with a good team like St. Louis. Bulger/Holt is the best QB/WR combo in the game. I`m still skeptical about the Chargers secondary.

Indy over Denver: I know I say this every week, but Denver`s inability to score will hurt them. Their defence has been winning the games for them, but Indy will be the first strong offensive team they`ve played in about a month.

New England over Minnesota: As mentioned earlier: Brady on turf is money in the bank. The Patriots looked almost perfect on some of their drives last week. Minny is improved and might make the playoffs (very easy November schedule) but they can`t hang with the Pats.

Arizona over Green Bay: I think the Cards loss to Oakland was due to them still being in shock/depression over the Monday Night fiasco. That should be over with now. Green Bay has trouble putting together two consecutive good games, and they have trouble defending the long pass; which Leinart can definitely throw.

Crap.

I've already bet on KC but rumor has it Huard tweaked his groin and may not play Sunday. So -it looks like rookie match ups for KC and Seattle on Sunday.

Leftwich is defeinitely out for Sunday -at least I had the Eagles on that one.

Gerrard for Jax is probably if not the best 2nd string qb in the league, jax doesnt lose anything with him starting and some people might argue that they are better (quicker) with him in there.
I heard huard is more likely going to start as it is must win for KC and Larry Johnson hopefully can keep it going.
As for NE being money, with Richard Seymour being questionable and the left offensive line for minn, they run right over ne. 0-4 without seymour, not including playoffs or something like that. Hutchinson most underrated player in the NFL, sea strugglin to run the ball, now minn is 2 ranked team running with chester taylor, coincidence i think not. Minnesota runs right through New England.

the last two philly losses they deserved to lose, football is played for 60 minutes not just in the second half, my opinion. Jacksonville steps up big and smacks the overrated birds in the mouth.

First of all - though I did take daBears all across, I should have made them my lock of the week -my apologies to mrpolarbear.

Did well on my early picks -went 6 for 7 -got a lucky .5 on Cincinnati but the Eagles were a let down. The late games were a mess but I went with Pittsburgh -smoke and mirrors! Ben sucks -Vick is better. Got StL plus 16 and the Jets at 9

Great game for the Jags. It looks like the Steelers and the Eagles are on a downward slide, they're done for the playoffs now.

As for Indy -money. Had them at a humongous plus 9 1/2.

Denver's gonna rape the Steelers next week.

Chicago -16.5 = Winner
NYG -9.5 = Winner
SD -8.5 = Winner
Phil -5.5 = Loser
Pitt -8.5 = Loser
Indy +2.5 = Winner
Indy/Den >39.5 = Winner

All in all, not a bad week, but I hate the freaking Eagles!

Brutal day. Glad I didn`t bet much this week.

The 13-6 score in the Philadelphia loss to Jacksonville was way too flattering to the Eagles defence. Jacksonville`s O-Line just owned the Eagles D all day. The Philly offence couldn`t muster anything until it was too late. Buddah`s earlier comment about Gerrard was right on the money. I wonder if Leftwich will still have the starter`s job when his ankle heals.

Houston at Tennessee -3---- I would take Tennessee
Jacksonville at Philly -6 ---- Jacksonville-- Don't know why
Atlanta at Cincinnati -4.5--- Cincy (Vick is too inconsistent)
Tampa Bay at NYG - --- Giants are coming around quite nicely
San Fran at Chicago -16 --- Chicago, I don't trust Bears offence,but D scores
Seattle at Kansas City ----- Seattle hands down
Arizona at GB -3 --- Arizona bounces back
Baltimore at New Orleans -2.5 -- New Orleans riding high
StLouis at San Diego -9 --- Chargers
Pittsburgh at Oakland ---- Pittsburgh (no matter what the line)
NYJ at Cleveland -1.5 ---- Jets..
Indy at Denver -2.5--- Indy
Dallas at Carolina - Carolina - 9 pts
New England -2.5 at Minnesota --- New England
Covered: Tenessee, Jacksonville, Giants, Chicago, Chargers, Indy.

So I am 6 - 7 with one game remaining.... Luckily, I took KC and Baltimore in my office pool...

The Eagles are tanking, my biggest piss off was Pittsburgh holding Oak to 98 yards of offence but loosing the bloody game...

Coming into this season, I thought the Eagles would be back in their 2003/2004 form, and that 2005 was an aberration caused by injuries and the whole TO debacle. In 2003/2004, the Eagles were ATS money. Up to about 3 weeks ago, they looked like they were playing really well. But now they are only 4-4 and seem to be moving backwards.

In contrast, the Cowboys had a 'must win' last night, and looked pretty good in manhandling the Panthers. The G-Men continued to roll yesterday, even though their offense looked pretty crappy against the Bucs. The Giants are 3-0 in the their division and it is looking good for them.

Despite the Steelers' slow start, I still thought they were a playoff caliber team, and had it in them to turn their season around. After getting spanked by the Raiders (the Raiders!), I think they are done.

Glad i jumped all over GB again, and i am REALLY loving them for a 4th straight week +3 at Buffalo.
Yep... they are really pissing me off... but I am happy that Favre is looking good and playing great... last year was ugly!!!

Homonger, I had thought that the same about McNabb and company, but it was bound to happen. I don't know if it's McNabb or the play calling, but I have no confidence in their offence....

Well slowandeasy thankfully the damn Eagles are on a bye for week 9 -we don't have to worry about which team will show up.

I have no faith in Lose-man at all -I will gladly take GB on three separate bets -moneyline, a 7 point teaser and whatever spread they lay out. Favre is having fun -he'll most likely retire and he knows this is his swan song. He knows they won't win many but he will put on a show. As well, he really doesn't have to worry about getting hooked in GB. He'll go out there and do a "bombs away" show.

Right now, the Eagles offence is like my Chargers Defence... everyone is talking about how great they are and how they have amazing weapons in Merriman, Williams, etc... but they have never been able to hold onto a lead or make big plays at the end of a game...
