Somewhere in nowwhere
I am an older person who has gone back to college. I would like to set up a website so colleagues can keep in touch with each other when I provide news and information after we finish in a couple months.

I'd appreciate anyone letting me know whether I can obtain a list of 2 or 3 suppliers who have website templates and who will host same. Not sure what I am asking really, but the idea is that, and I imagine, I pay a monthly fee. This is going to be a relatively simple affair.

Thanks in advance./

Agreed, blogger is the way to go. No coding or costs, you just pick a template, follow the prompts and away you go. You can enable subscribers so your colleagues can be kept up to date on your posts and they can comment too. You can also restrict access to colleagues only and if you're technically inclined you can customize your template (although not at all necessary).

Good luck.

I would agree Blogger seems like it could work for you. I would make one suggestion,

Buy a domain name. You can forward it to your blogger. If you find you need a little more profession site, you have to domain name that people know how to reach you. It is cheap but adds a certain amount of professionalism to you and your business. It is also much better and easy to say "go to www.yourdomain.com" then to say "www.yourname.blogspot.com"

Keep your domain name simple as well.

You asked for list so here a few other places.

http://www.bravenet.com/
http://www.zymic.com
http://www.wix.com/

I have no personal experience with these places, but I have seen many who have used them.

Again, I would get my own domain name if using any of those sites above as they all work on the same sub-domain premises.

Domains names - Go-daddy. Also, Go-daddy does have some site builder programs as well you may want to look at. I don't know about them so I can't advise but go-daddy is pretty easy to work with regarding its other services, so I don't see why their site builders would be an issue. Their hosting packages have great add-ons as well.

Free, open source, thousands of free templates to choose from, you can either host at wordpress.org or buy a domain name and some server space (I recommend Bluehost.com), and there's a large online community and plenty of forums where you can find answers to any questions you may have working with Wordpress.

Have fun.
