If you ask me, carrying a weapon of any kind is asking for trouble. As soon as you pull out a weapon, you are fair game as an equal partner in the struggle. You're an individual who pulls out a baton/knife/bear spray/illegal handgun to use on an aggressor, nine times out of ten it will be taken away from you and likely used against you. At a minimum, you're going to be more severely assaulted and will probably sustain more severe injuries than if you hadn't pulled the weapon in the first place. Real life is not the movies. It never works out how you think it will. It just makes you artificially and foolishly brave.

Things have changed alit in last 20 years.
There used to be so few guns in Canada when I was growing up. Criminals didn't have them, there were no gangs to speak of, only motorcycle gangs.

Totally different ball game now. I want to be on a level playing field. These pieces of shit tend to kill themselves more than other people out in public but in home invasion, I would want a gun. Being able to defend yourself with same weapon that you are being assaulted with should be my right. It's common sense.

We definitely don't need assault riffles, machine guns, etc.

Gun laws only keep guns from law abiding citizens. Even with our laws, every pos has a gun now. 2 to 4 shootings in gta every day now.

If you want a laugh watch this - US Army ranger battled the Crips in 1989 in California
during the battle both side fired multiple times and no Ranger was injured but multiple injuries on the Crips side.

There is a problem with allowing to use lethal force. If you have to pull out a LEGAL gun, you should not just show it in hope to prevent further confrontation, if you pull it - you should shoot to kill immediately. The fact that a regular person may have a LEGAL gun and have legal right to shoot without warning is what deters crimes.

Everything you say sounds good. Except
Be mentally prepared
Make sure your life insurance policy is paid and current
If you take a gun out of the holster, make sure you pull the trigger, if not you will be dead
Think about collateral damage you might cause
Think about what crime you will be convicted
Think about a jury verdict
Think about your lawyer's fee

Lefties glorify guns and gun violence more than any other group. They lack self-awareness.

The same way they treat things like racism.. they speak out of both sides of their mouths.

Insufferable delusional narcissists that make Amber Heard look sane.

What Jeru said on the subject is a prophetic warning to those who mess with guns, who should not .... Just Don't.

"Wishing he'll go away won't help the weapons stop
The skills are shot cause any idiot can let off a Glock
Hard rock smelling the clutch of the sun toucher
You claim you got beef on the streets, so what ya
Gonna do when real ni&$@s roll up on you
And you don't got your crew
Pull your Glock but you don't got the heart
You was webbed straight from the start
Bought a tool and didn't learn how to use it
Got lost in Brooklyn so you had to lose it
Just for fronting you got that ass whipped"

America is fucked up. Too easy to own a gun and too many deaths. Gun right nuts are everywhere. On the other extreme, Canada's laws suck. A woman cannot even use mace or pepper spray to defend themselves. Bear spray is legal, but only to be used against bears. If you use it iun self defense against anything else, including dogs, you can be charged.

I think there needs to be a balance.
The argument presupposed that the risk of being attacked is high.

If guns kill people, then all the bars should be closed because of drunk drivers.
...
Bars regularly lose their licence and get slammed in lawsuits if they serve a driver who kills while drunk.

p.s. Bars provide some benefit to society. Guns in many cases are just a hobby.

No such thing. Only way to come close is to constantly walk around with your gun in your hand.

Exactly. Most average people are not a target for gang violence.

...but in home invasion,...
And how often in Canada is there a home invasion with the intent to kill (not directly connected to gang activity)?

Long guns are a useful tool for hunting and in some cases farmers protecting their fields but for many gun owners, it is either wanting to feel macho or because they're paranoid.

"liberal" means "free". Support prostitution, drugs, guns. A true liberal cannot choose to support something and ban the other.
A true person doesn't live in a world of absolutes adherence to a dogma.

It's not truly the definition of the words but many people leaning liberal put more focus on the impact to society while many people leaning conservative put an emphasis on impact to them as an individual.

Wow, I like the way you seem to know everything about everything.
What are you doing on a hooker review board?
Shouldn't a genius like you be a politician so you can help your fellow people.
Maybe you should start a company and be the next Elon Musk.

Maybe some people don't feel the way you do. Maybe they do feel that the risk is high. Maybe they live in an area where risk is high. Didn't Marner get a gun pulled on him when his car was jacked? If it happened to him then it could happen to anybody.

Maybe other people have a right to have their own opinion. Maybe you don't have to put your arrogant 2 cents on everybody else's opinion.

You always quote parts of a person's post then "correct" it.
All you have to do is give us your opinion and I can respect that but judging other people's opinions make you seem like an asshole.

You opined and "corrected" 5 peoples opinions without giving us your in depth thoughts on the subject.

So, what you are actually saying that today's liberals are not actually liberals but communists. You know, communism is about society and not individuals.
