Weapons for self defense? Canada vs USA

America is fucked up. Too easy to own a gun and too many deaths. Gun right nuts are everywhere. On the other extreme, Canada's laws suck. A woman cannot even use mace or pepper spray to defend themselves. Bear spray is legal, but only to be used against bears. If you use it iun self defense against anything else, including dogs, you can be charged.

I think there needs to be a balance.

I have already made it known, I have bear spray in my incall room. Now I don’t want to spray this because it would effect me to in such close quarters, but if you come at me violently with intent to assault or kill me - I will use and gladly accept the arrest for it. I have weighed the risks and it is a risk I am willing to take to be safe.

Kubaton is old from the 90's see below. I carry a pen or wood pencil old style. Saw this in a movie. I also put my biggest key in between my fingers in a fist form.

I worry about having a weapon that can be turned on me. Because let’s be real, I am not stronger then most men. But that is pretty small it could at least help for me to slightly even the odds in a defensive hit. Thanks.

I have at least experienced bear spray before and I think I could make it out if it was discharged in the room.

But my point is to make him cry while YOU can still or try to escape. Not stick around to do more damage like in the movies. Because that would be assault. Once police arrive your statement is " I ran swinging my arms and he ran or jumped ... into my hand that held the pencil. I use or hold the pencil for my anxiety"

i bought my kubaton (which is nothing but a thin brass cylinder) from Warriors on Yonge street back in the 80’s and still have it. I have also bought and trained a lot of females in my life on how to use it. It basically buys you a little time to run. Like what’s said above it‘s not there for assaulting someone. It also looks innocuous compared to s can of mace. Most people have no clue what they’re looking at, which is the entire point.

How many guns owners are going to get on this thread and make a public comment.
If guns kill people, then all the bars should be closed because of drunk drivers.
Cars should be banned because drunk drivers kill themselves and others.
This has nothing to do with being liberal or not. There are no winners in this discussion.
