I know the equation Watts = Joules/s but can someone explain how that relates to picking a surge suppressor. Take 100 watts as an example to explain. I am trying to figure out what surge suppressor to get for a computer based on the total watts from the computer.

Thanks

Joules protection rating is more important here.
Joules ratings vary with each surge suppressor and the higher the Joules protection is, the better you are protected. IMHO get one with at least 1000 Joules rating. Some go rated up to 4000 Joules protection.

That is right. It is the total charge passed or suppressed that is important. I just wanted to echo what Woodrow said, in a slightly different manner.
