Out of habit, I still don't look to my smartphone for the time. My watches look cool and are considered jewelery. I like watches ^_^

I have 6 fairly good quality watches. I coordinate them with the shirts and ties that I wear. Latest purchase was a Bulova at half price in a Sears sale. Never go out without wearing one. Surprising how women notice them.

I have a 1953 18ct Swiss watch, but the spring broke a few months ago. Now I have to find someone to repair it. Bummer

I am saying that is what SHE said. Good enough for me. And what is the difference between a Bulova from Birks at $450 and the same watch from Sears at $225 when it is on my wrist?

So true, it's amazing that with some of the more expensive and (what I thought were cool looking watches) that I own, I don't get as many compliments from women as those other watches I have that I don't think much of. It may be the matching tie or shoes though! Note to self and others: Women have complimented on the classier styles such as leather bands, simple gold bezels, and shiny bling! When it comes to chronographs and other practical bells and whistles, they don't care much for.

Watches are great for starting up conversations with beautiful women when you least expect it!

Are you saying it's time to ditch my 10 year old Timex Ironman Triathlon?

And I just changed the battery on it too...

In that vein... any suggestions for a nice understated watch in the $200-$300 range?

Keep your Ironman for sporting activities. Are you looking for a watch for everyday use? Depending on your occupation you may want to get suggestions from fellow co-workers, and better yet, bring some ladies along shopping with you.

Yeah, looking for an everyday use, "all purpose" (other than sports) watch. I don't want to start a collection.

...bring some ladies along shopping with you.
Geez, there goes the $200-$300 budget... :)

BTW, to answer the OP's question... yes, I always wear a watch. The watch doesn't get noticed by the ladies (or maybe they're too polite to comment on it), but they've all noticed and commented on the severe watch tan line.

You should wear a watch. It's good to remember how to tell time. One of the tests for alzheimers they gave my dad was drawings of a clock without the numbers on it, and having the hands at different settings and he had to tell them the time. Well he couldn't do it and failed that test.

P.S. Like kids today who don't know how to tie their shoe laces cuz it's all velcro now!

I'm actually surprised that there are more watch wearers than I originally thought. What about women? Do women wear watches to compliment their other jewellery?
