Trump's 'red line' threat to Netanyahu draws fresh outrage
Story by Robert Davis

President Donald Trump's latest "red line" threat to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday drew fresh outrage from political analysts and observers.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. was not aware of Israel's recent bombing strikes against the South Pars gas field, which is Iran's largest energy source. Multiple reports indicate that the U.S. and its ally in the region, Qatar, were aware of the plan and approved it ahead of time.

Nevertheless, Trump told the Israelis that there will be "no more attacks" in Iran without his approval.
"NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar - In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before," Trump's post reads in part.

Political analysts and observers shared their reactions on social media.
"Would be hard to draft a more comprehensively deranged and appallingly dystopian presidential communiqué," Philip Gourevich, a staff writer at The New Yorker, posted on Bluesky.

"This is a sign of being utterly terrified of the recession-level impacts Iran can bring to bear," podcaster Amar Kazzmi posted on X.
"One has to wonder whether he’s posting this because the Qataris are furious," journalist Yashar Ali posted on X.
"How long before Trump blames the entire war on Israel?" journalist David Corn posted on Bluesky.
"Contrary to what Trump says below, there is a lot of reporting in Israel & the U.S. that Trump approved the Israeli attack on the Pars oil field," Washington Post columnist Max Boot posted on Bluesky. "But when Iran struck back, Trump refused to take responsibility."

Hegshit keeps claiming they've neutralized Iran, yet they are getting through?? WTF???? Get to the bottom of this ASAP!.

Midterms are only 7 months away, ask Phil, he knows.

But the war could end in a few weeks, and gas prices could go back to normal

Plus, say it does end in 2 weeks, considering the damage that has been done by Israel, the US and Iran, can the price significantly come back down before the midterms??

All those gas fields are going to be a year away due to the damage. The oil fields and refinery closers take a minimum of one month to open from a cold start. And the longer they are down the longer it takes.

Even with the Iran oil getting out, Saudi diversion to the other coast(and the Houthis are waiting in the wings) and the SPR(400 million barrels but only 2 million per day can be moved) that means a shortage of about 14 million barrels per day not getting to markets. Times now 21 days.

We haven't seen the big spike yet because of so much oil still in tankers already purchased. Once that oil gets delivered that's when it really starts.

Considering the recent strikes, almost getting an F-35, Trump now blaming Israel, troops at least 10 days out just from arrival, one aircraft carrier down, low on ammo, no NATO help......

Why would you think the Iranians are going to stop? And Oil companies aren't going to cash in?

Once it hits 5 bucks in the USA its going to get ugly.

I really would have thought that as an oil-producing nation, we could insulate ourselves vs the nutty global prices....guess that was naive of me.

We would have to nationalize the oil. What we will see is a rise in our dollar value coming up.

Not sure how this will play out for Iran.
They may not care about it, given this war is existential for them.
And they may not care about it because these other GCC nations have been in bed with the US and Israel all along anyway.
We'll have to wait and see how this plays out.
The United States may try and encourage these GCC nations into putting boots on the gound to do their dirty work for them.
But do they want to?
Unless trump or AI Netanyahu use nukes it will be Iran deciding when this ends.
Its true that Iran is pissing off the gulf nations but its also true that Iran is playing for keeps.

What this war proves is that Iran was the sane party, the moderate one.
Israel attacked them twice and they managed to deescalate the attacks both times.
Even in the 12 day war last summer they escalated slowly just to create enough damage to force Israel to stop.

This time they were very clear that if Israel attacked again they would play for keeps.

That's true. Iran has been the reasonable and moderate one.
They try to portray Iran as crazy violent muslims and these fucking Nazis in the US and Israel as people who defend freedoms, while being the ones to commit genocide and war crimes.
My only fear is what if GCC nations turn against Iran and take military action? Not that, allowing the US and Israel to use their bases is not hostile already.
Then the US and Israel will let the "muslims fight each other" and egg them on from the outside. It actually works very well for Israel because that is exactly what they want.
But then again what would their military goals be? I don't think they are that foolish either and they fully know this, which is why they aren't acting yet.
However, if their oil and gas fields and infrastructure is getting hit, they may be forced to respond, albeit to what extent, I am unsure.
