I have been in the market for a new tv and finally decided on the make and model i want. I shop around online and find that walmart is the cheapest of all. I head out to my local walmart after the website says it is in stock tell the guy which one i want and he says we dont have any. He checks his little inventory gun and tells me the other walmart across town has 2. I drive over there the salesman te;lls me we dont have any either and they never had any. Now, i am pissed, the guy says we can order you one but it will take 3 weeks to get it. I ask him to check other stores and see if they will transfer one from another store he says walmart doesnt do that but he will call themand have them hold it for me if I drive over there and pick it up. I said screw that im not driving 50 miles with a 1500 plasma in the back of my truck. Walmart can suck my dick. How did they ever get to be the worlds largest retailer?

Because they have managed to convince people that the crappy service and crappy products they offer, are more than made up by their low prices. A classic example of you get what you pay for.

Well, of course you do. Btw, I've been meaning to ask you. What exactly does England rule, besides England that is? With all due respect.

Its your own fault for not calling to confirm with the first store. If they had it, tell them to hold it for you. Samething with the 2nd store. You should have had the first store call and confirm they have it and will hold it for you.

Walmart is really good at what they do, but if you go outside of the comfort zone, they are not. If you want to go somewhere, and buy something simple, like motor oil or paper towels, they are very good. For something as complex as finding a specific TV and holding it, you are stretching their capabilities.

At least you can return electronics at Walmart. Try the Future Shop.

I was there for hours exchanging a new monitor that had a burnt pixel in the middle of the screen. I had to talk to 5 people. I won't be shopping there again.

A single burnt pixel isn't enough to warrant an exchange. Manufacturer's policy requires something like 6+ burnt pixels. Regardless, if you were exchanging within a week (or whatever the exchange period is), why talk to anyone period? Just return it and buy a new one.

That is what I was doing with in a week. I had to talk to 5 people and waited for about 2 hours. I finally grabbed a stool to sit down.

What was the problem? Whenever I return stuff, I just go to the counter and tell them I want to return it. I don't say why.

No real problem but get handed from one cash to another, then to a tech to check it, then to another tech, back to cash, then to floor guy (checks stock), then tech sees me (asks me why I am still there), then another floor guy, then they try to upsell me to another monitor, back to cash, then out there.

Never going back. They were too busy and unorganized.

Retailers run out of stock because there are a lot of other cheap people who get there and buy first.

If one store is out; try another.......

Both Walmart and Future Shop match other stores' advertised products.

way out in left field
As stated, it is always a great idea to call ahead and have them hold it for you but, and I am only speaking from my experience, try to get someone "live" on the phone when you call...isn't just walmart but any large retailer. I remember ordering $5,000.00 worth of flooring from homo depot and was on the phone for an hour trying to check and see if it was in.....

Yeah, I wouldn't buy big ticket items like a TV at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is good for cheap, household, disposable items.

Anything beyond that is pushing it.

I'll admit that I've actually gotten some pretty good clothes at Wal-Mart  , but it depends on the Wal-Mart. Some seem to have better stuff than others.

There is an enduring legacy from the fortunate circumstance of English dominance and we are using it right now. Other matters like common law and democratic parliaments come to mind.

People love to hate us but " twas ever thus".
