Virus Protection

Hi, I was wondering what is the best virus protection program to buy today? I have had mcafee and it screwed up my computer, I have also had norton 360 and I have had the chance to see anything run slower. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

I run Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
So far I am very pleased.

I second Avast

Highly rated Avast doesn't slow down your PC and isn't a resource hog like Norton and McAfee.

There are many free programs that work as well if not better than the paid ones. Take the advice of those here.

Unfortunately there is no one program that does it all. Over the years i have tested many and have seen the results of others.

Personally i use AVG anti virus, Spyware Blaster, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Commodo Firewall, C Cleaner, HiJack This. Have had great success.

Before certain others move in on this thread, i will beat them to it for a change and say.......LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use Avast as well and so far it has served me well. For the five years previous to this I used Kaspersky and enjoyed it. I only changed as I was unable to see a clear reason to spend another $99 per year for Kaspersky.

I back up Avast with regular sweeps with Malwarebytes
