I believe Grandma still has a girdle, but I've never asked if she actually enjoys wearing it.
Don't suppose that's who you were thinking about, though.
Gotta admit the question seems to come right out of the blue. And first post in three years. Nice of you to pipe up. Are you actually breaking a religious vow of silence?
Welcome to the gabfest.
;-) Thanks Artmann. My problem is that several of my colleagues are grandmothers, but it wouldn't be kosher water-cooler conversation to ask them if they still have their girdles and might be willing to model them for me. Typically it's the women now in their late 70s and 80s who still fondly remember the panty and open-bottom girdles. But in some circles at least younger women are rediscovering them.
Picking up on jarhead's reflection, I do think that many of us at least (me for sure) get fixed on arousal signals that depend on the time and place in which we were adolescents. Those catalogues, and the daring images of girdles, etc., certainly were sites of arousal.
I also think that the women who wore them saw them as sexually-titillating, and carried themselves with that aura. They felt sexy when they wore gidles, and they reflected that sexuality with the swishes of their skirts and the turn of their faces as they looked to see who was watching. Women who feel sexually enticing typically ARE.
'nuf said to break my vow of silence.
