I love Babcocks response. "it doesnt change anything, he's not going anywhere"...lol. VC thinks he'll come out publicly and ask for a trade. GM says yawn whatever VC. I'm sure Babcock will trade him eventually but i love to hate VC and this just adds to my pleasure. Dick head!

Carter quote
"Carter's public statement comes just a week after he posted a letter to fans on his official website saying he didn't want to play in Toronto if the team wasn't going to win soon."

Well Vince, get off your ass, start trying your hardest every game and every practice, and maybe the Raptors would win more games.

I guess it was just a matter of time. What a shame - a terrific athlete with little or no "heart". I wonder if the Raptors will be able to fill the stands night after night without a name like VC on the roster. My feeling is that they will not be able to. Anybody agree?

They filled the stands long b4 Vince, and will continue to do so as long as they can start playing over 500 ball and at least make it to the playoffs. BTW a hockey strike will help this year.

They had the novelty factor working in their favor before VC - that's no longer the case. You're right about the hockey strike - but that's only a short term potential attendance booster.

I think there is enough of a core of basketball fans in the city to support the team without a star; that is IF Babcock and co. show they're commited to building an exciting team.

vince gets paid like a superstar. he has an entourage like a superstar. he sure talks and acts like he is a superstar...BUT!!!

a superstar doesnt have his mommy making all his decisions for him behind the scenes. (brings back memories of eric lindros)

a superstar actually produces something, stats, wins, makes his teammates better, all things vinny has never done.

what has vince done in his career? ever lead the league in scoring??? dont give me the crap about he doesnt have teammates to help him, because MJ did it with sad sack bulls teams, and T-Mac has done it with a sad magic squad. does he play good defence??? half the time he doesnt even know what the word defence means. does he make his team, and fellow players around him, better? i would argue no, hell, two years ago, they had an incredible run to get to the playoffs, basically without him. as well, they stink now with him, so who cares if they stink without him. i would dare say they play better without him. i also dont think it is a good idea to have a sulking reluctant vince hanging around youngsters like bosh and araujo.

what else, he couldnt make the shot against philly in the playoffs to send the raps onwards. is that fair, no, but, tough shit, that is the way it goes. a player, true superstar, is defined by making those plays in the clutch, when it matters most. he doesnt take the rock to the hoop anymore either. doesnt play through injuries.....i'd even go as far as to say he milks his injuries!

anyways, enough said. i am sick and tired of these whiny overpaid bums! it is not a right to play pro sports, get paid a king's ransom, and demand to play wherever and whenever you feel like! it is a privilege, and i think these prima donnas lose sight of this fact!

get lost vince, and take your mom with you!

i dont know that the raps would ever get what they felt is fair market value for carter, and, to be honest, who knows what this guy's value is anymore. i do think they should look to fill their holes, definitely a proven big man (center), and/or a true scorer to help out jalen rose. as well, they should try and scoop a first rounder out of any potential trading partner. this should be a very interesting scenario to watch play out.

Carter - high $$$, moderate value. Rumours about bad knees. Not quite a yogi stewart but the raps will be hard pressed to get what they see as fair value. Last I heard, Ray Allen and Peja both wanted out. I'm not sure that either would be a good fit. The raptors don't even have any lower salary players that other teams would want to be thrown in with the possible exception of marshall.(they'd be stupid to let Bosh go)

What a team
PG-Alston - weak shooter, below average defender, big money
SG-Rose - hasn't shown his temper in T.O. yet, cant function as a primary option
SF-Carter - Baby who wants out
PF-Bosh - the future of the franchise, needs 1 or 2 more years with someone to teach him
C-Marshall? - needs to show something inside to be more usefull

Bench
Peterson - should of let his a$$ walk to the hornetsonly 'cause the salary, a good defender and could do ok in a running game. still has potential unless it's another year of waiting in the corner
Araujo - tough but undisciplined, unathletic, a younger, less knowlegable version of oakley
Alvin - might be able to play 40 games max, not a real PG
Murray - wants out more than carter
Mason - 3rd string guard
Sow - athletic, needs some strength, experience
Woods - could do ok as a deep bench forward if his heads stays screwed on, will fall apart if the teams full of conflict

Vince Carter lol what a joke. He demands a trade and says he wants to go to a team that's positioned to win.

This is a guy whos soft, been perenially injured for over two years, plays with no heart, and brings his A game once every 5 games. Yet he's sick of the team losing? Give me a break.

He's never worked on his game in the offseason, never been a leader. In fact Oakkley had to publicly challenge him during the playoffs so the Raptors wouldn't get eliminated. Until then he was sticking to "its a team game" schtick that was costing the team games, instead of being the man and stepping up. So I honestly have to laugh at this guys alleged will to win.

The funny thing is, he wants to go play in New York. Carter wouldn't survive in NY. He would fold under the intense media crush. Plus NY fans would roast Carter and players of his ilk who don't bring it every game.

I hope GM Babcock can swing a deal before the season starts so at least the team can at least develop some continuity from the start of the season

Could not agree more with what has been said above. I hate cry babies with a passion. I tell my 11 years when I coach, usually the team that wins is the team that tries the hardest. Vince has NO HEART. There might be a coach out there that can motivate him, but I think it is too late for that. Get him the f_ck out of Toronto.

What really gets me is that this guy thinks that he's still at the same level as Shaq, Kobe, Garnett, Kidd, etc, etc... Not so, his athletic ability and talent are still there but he relies on it too much. Management knows it, the entire league knows it but the on;y one who doesn't know it is Vince; and his mom. Buddys got NO heart and desire to get better. He doesn't even work out, he's still the same size as when he came into the league in his rookie year. If we're lucky and the other team is stupid, we might be able to get Ray Allen. The team needs a leader, a man, not a whining SOB telling his mom to tell management how to run the team. LOSER.
