The story Emm told and others have mentioned I think is a sign they are actually doing a good job. They are there to protect SP's from people who might prey on them, either abusive pimps, or abusive customers or whatever and they just show up and give their card, ask if everything is OK and say call us if you ever need us. I think that is a good thing.

Cops are mostly focused on pimps and underage exploited girls.

my advice, do as Cristal does.

book a low key clean hotel in the west end. OPERATE WITHOUT A PIMP.

then move to north York. Then shake it up a bit in Oshawa, maybe Richmond hill.

stay near highways. Move around a bit.

advertise and find where your best customer base is. If its Markham, perhaps do extra days there.

Dont bring a spotlight to yourself.

If you are holed up in one place, yes you are RUNNING a common bawdy house, and they could do a sting with undercover.
HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

You speak from experience? You know how much nonsense they have in those databases? Trust me.
There was a thread about this subject a while back. A TERBie's potential employer asked for a "police reference report" and all kind of info on him popped up.

It's a lie. Legally they are only allowed to release convictions (not pardoned). Period.
It was an interesting thread that is now 3-4 years old. I forgot whether he asked for the report or the potential employer asked for the report but I seem to recall there was more info than just convictions.

BTW: I heard that it is becoming more common for potential employers and mates to ask for a police reference report as well as doing a Google search:Eek: prospective employees and mates.

Topooner, what you say may be correct, having come from small town RCMP villages and towns.

i think here in the big city, pimps are targeted as are girl who are human trafficked.

yes I agree police should act on complaints and noisy SP, but also I would assume some vice squads are actively pursuing pimps and educating girls. Heck Toronto has a large van that rolls around at night.

Saskatoon Vice Unit recently posted on perb in the Saskatchewan review forum. One of his posts is in the sticky thread at the top by OliviaSask.

I was recently in contact with a member of VPD and was told that Vice Units across the country monitor industry review boards and ad sites for signs of illegal activity by SP's or clients. Underage or trafficked women, violent crimes, etc.

I had one of those years ago and the only thing the employer was told is if something was there (arrest record), not what the charges were. It was up to the employer to follow up.

Doubt it. Not a personal attack but I highly doubt some officer would give a random person insight on their intelligence tactics. No offense but I don't believe your VPD story . Reason being, from personal experience- getting info. from them is like puling teeth. They can be selfish in sharing info.

If this was the case a certain board owner would be charged 2000x over by now. It's a very low priority.
Doubt all you want but I've texted, talked on the phone and emailed with this constable over the last couple of months about an issue I'm personally involved with.

Maybe things have changed since you retired?

Have you read the posts on perb? The vice member's post also confirms this:

"The only instance when we have contacted a “client”/member of this board was to seek assistance. There were a group of girls that were scamming clients. We sought out a senior poster to put out the word that if anyone was a victim of this scam then the VICE unit was interesting in pursuing criminal charges. We felt his voice would carry more weight on the boards and would increase chances of someone coming forward. We have used information from these boards to identify the parties responsible for these incidents and have dealt with them appropriately. Once again, our only objective in this instance was to help those being exploited. In this case it was the clients."

sorry everything seems to be connecting, but i finally read everything. I have a better insight. I still have a million questions... like what makes it a bawdy? what do you mean they do stings... how do they do stings with girls... they obviously have to do an investigation, but how if everythings in the private of a room or your house.. know what i mean?

A bawdy house is a place....the same place....where a lady has sex with guys for money.

thats why it is wise to change hotels for Incalls.

If you use the same house and apartment over and over, and problems start, like parking, or noise, or arguments, or boyfriend is jealous, then it could draw some complaints. If so, police may try and figure out what is going on, do some investigations, and you could be charged with Keeping a common bawdy house.

highly unlikely, but you never know your neighbors, or future problems.

i strongly suggest rotating hotels.

as for taping in the room. No! They would need a warrant to wiretap phones.

The crime is called 'operating a bawdyhouse', but think of it as running a brothel, a place where guys go to buy sex. If it's always a different place, then it ain't a bawdyhouse. The only crime the SPs commit is working in a brothel, so that's why going on outcalls is OK.

If a Court is going to convict anyone of running a brothel, or convict you of working in one ('being an inmate' is the name of that crime) they have to have evidence that sex was bought and sold there, not just once, but frequently. Very hard to collect that evidence. Especially since it is not legal for cops to wiretap or set up cameras in private places. Not unless a judge has looked at evidence of crime they already have and decided it's OK to get more in this way. If the cops couldn't find customers or girls willing to be witnesses, they'd have to send in their own guys to repeatedly buy sex, and have it provided. It's not the sort of thing they'd want to be cross-examoined about by your lawyer. Frankly, unless the neighbours are complaining, why would the cops even go to the trouble?

In the US the laws are very different and we've all seen and heard about prostitution stings on shows like Cops. But they work because in that state, it's a crime to offer sex for money, or to offer to buy it. In Canada, that's only illegal if you do it in a public place, and the police do use stings here to keep the lid on street prostitution. They'll use a policewoman who will bust a guy cruising, if he rolls down his window, and asks, "How much?", or a cop in his own car who sees what offers he gets from the girls. "Communicating for the purpose of prostitution' is an equal-opportunity crime. But in a private place, like your room, it's perfectly OK.

There is just no effective way to set up a fake bawdyhouse (and if it was the cops running the whorehouse, they'd be the criminals) to trap real customers, or to send fake customers into a real one unless you actually do the bought sex that makes it a crime. Without that sex, there is no crime. That's why smart police forces are doing what they should always do: focussing on abuses of the those in the trade, and assuring them that their complaints of pimping, underage sex, trafficking and violence will be acted on just as any other law-abiding citizen's complaint would be.

they either come, talk about sex for money and leave under pretense of going to get cash etc and/or they investigate your customers as they walk out

it's not a complicated investigation if it's a massage type of place with good stream of men in and out

cops don't need hard evidence like audio/video etc, their word that they were offered sex in combination with the ads is more than enough

I guess all in all the best way to protect yourself is to make sure youre over 18 and not a have a pimp in this line of business. Once again, thanks guys, all this information really did help me, dont worry im over 18 nor do i have a pimp, i just knowvthis line of business has alot of grey scale and the last thing i want to is know im standing in one, just wanna protect myself. Ill keep rotating my hotels so im committing a bawdy house.. thats the only thing i gotta worry about. is it still a bawdy house if you do it in your home as well?

They'd have to have proof of some sort that sex (not sleeping) happened and that it was paid for, and that it happened not just once, but as a standard, repeated business transaction. They can't plant a camera, or tap your phone, or bug the place without a court order, but carrying a recorder in with them is different, ask a lawyer, not us TERBians. Point is, they'd have to swear in court they had paid for and got sex, repeatedly (unless they found unhappy customers willing to swear it for them). Cops have better ways to get their names in the paper.

They need proof of frequent sex being bought—and delivered—for money at that place. They cannot testify they, or anyone bought sex, if they didn't take delivery or witness it; your defence would be that you were scamming and you lied about the sex.

Of course a massage parlour set up, as afterhours envisages is rather a different fish-kettle, involving municipal licenses as well as the bawdyhouse law, but I don't believe you were asking about that. He does have a useful warning: If you advertise the wrong way, and annoy the neighbours with a procession of horny guys waving twenties processing in, and zipping up as they exit, even a very tolerant judge will have trouble giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're entitled to about what's going on inside.
