Since I seem to be on a posting binge, I thought I'd put it out to the masses: I'm looking for very well-done crusted pizza in the downtown core. I've found it at Pizzaiolo, but they're very pricey, when it comes to just an everyday pie. I just crossed off Four Brothers from my list this afternoon, where they attempted to please my non-limp crust desire, but were sadly lacking (to be fair, they were skeptical, and very understanding when they didn't live up to par).

Fresh Slice? Nope. Pizza Pizza? No. Beast Pizza? Likewise no, as was North of Brooklyn and Domino's. Many more that I forget now.

Does anyone do a well-done, firm crust pizza anymore, one that doesn't look like a sloppy limp dick?

Try detroit style. Descendant or Rennaissance. Since they are square and deep, I guess the crust has to be robust.

Might sound unorthodox but certain Metro stores make a focassia crust pizza that is stiff, firm and rather impressive for a grocery store.

The only decent pizza in Toronto is North of Brooklyn IMHO.

But thx for mentioning the place in The Well - I’ll try that!

Are you talking eat-in or take-out? For the record, I like thin crust, well done pizza. For eat-in, I recently had a very good one at Il Fornello on the Danforth. I ordered the
PIZZA DIAVOLA. Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, spicy salami, basil, chillies, black olives $20.25.

If you order take-out, I recommend buying a pizza stone to finish it off. Crank up your oven up to 450F - 500F to crisp up the crust and your pizza will be nice and hot. Also great for reheating leftovers. Remember to place the pizza stone in the oven before you turn it on.
