Here's some relief for you. No it's not pepto bismol.:)

Looks like the current crop won't be affected but only the fruit from the following crop if the seeds are saved and replanted.

Again thank you! interesting and informative read! my ghost peppers do not appear to be growing to the extent the ones in the article did, however, I expect at least 2 more months of growing season so a lot could happen. All the pepper plants are doing well, the ghost peppers, so far are the most prolific producers, so it could be an interesting harvest. Won't be worrying about saving seed and think I will be reluctant to grow them again unless I can find a recipe that is safe to eat as well as awesome.

Bumping this old thread because I suspect that many more people are going to be gardening this year.
Took a look at a few seed companies . Many popular seeds are out of stock . Used to have a nice veggie garden but started to spend more time away from home during the summer . Now it's all grass . Might use some big pots this year and see what happens . Lots of YouTube videos gardening with large self watering pots .

Watching many gardening videos from people who are living in the South . They are already picking their crops like beans , peas and cucumbers . Feel like getting back into gardening but with us getting freezing temps like last night it will have to wait .

Been gardening all my life . One day I said enough of this . Maybe it was a mistake . Just might get back into it but in a small way . Was thinking maybe a couple of small raised beds . Problem is that now there are too many rabbits in our neighbourhood . Darn things love fresh plants . One year they ate all of my bean plants . Grrr .

I still have a couple of packets of seeds from last year (Swiss chard and radishes). I assume that they're still okay.

This year I'm growing tomatoes, cucumbers, Swiss chard, radishes, and green beans. Maybe try eggplant for the first time.

Don't know what Swiss chard or egg plant tastes like . Maybe some day . Tomatoes , cucumbers , radishes and green beans . My favorites . Old seeds are still good . Got quite a few old seeds that my mom saved . Must be at least 13 years . I love beans . Bought some at the store the other day . They looked good but the taste just wasn't there . Home grown veggies are the best . Used to plant bush beans and pole beans and throw in a few wax yellow beans for colour.

Now you have me thinking about putting in a small garden this year . Maybe with a small fence to keep away those rabbits . Nothing like going to your own garden to get fresh veggies and making a nice salad . Your own tomatoes for a bacon and lettuce sandwich . Yum yum .

Already started by getting the garden cleaned up for the yard waste pickup and planting indoors to get seedlings going but it's too cold outside for now to plant anything. My indoor garden doing nicely again after a small bug infestation that i dealt with rapidly. Not sure if we are going with anything new this year but it's most probably given that we are also watching way more YouTube than usual.

Glad to hear it but it kind of sucks . Part of the enjoyment of going to a garden centre is looking around at all of the different flowers and picking out what you like . Just having a curb side pick up is not the same . I like to pick out what plants I like even though they maybe the same every year .

There could be a box of tomato plants but I may only like a few plants that they have . Could end up not liking what they choose to sell me .

Going to a garden centre is fun . Enjoyment is lost with curb side pick-up . They should be treated as a grocery store and only allow a few people in at a time .

If you want something that is fail safe to grow, plant beans and peas. Eggplants are more difficult to grow, demands a long growing season, and take poorly to weeds.

I recommend investing in a few grow lights and flats, so you can grow seedlings yourself. Tomatoes are easy to seed.

Chinese eggplants are easy to grow. They are long and thin and do well next to my bell pepper plants. Take one Chinese eggplant, one bell pepper, one red onion and one zucchini, slice or chop coarsely and sauté in extra virgin olive oil for about ten minutes. Delicious.

How was your vegetable garden this year. The squirrels at all my fruits off the trees and there were only a handful of tomatoes. I gave up weeks ago.

Did very well with the three sisters this year, though I should have planted the squash first. Tomatos and eggplant have also done well. I have a patch covered with a tarp till spring so I can grow a patch of wildflower mix. Already growing lots of native plants, including 3 kinds of milkweed....
