All across Europe, the US, the middle east, and India, there are record breaking temperatures reaching between 40 and 50 degrees celcius. Many people have died (not everyone has AC). Temperatures have gone out of control. When the ice cap melts, less heat will be reflected back. Also, the higher temperature escalates the global warming process by releasing gases trapped in the ocean. The result is a runaway increasase in the global climate, affecting billions of people. Food shortages, extreme drought, forest fires, animals dying, and people beind displaced due to rising sea levels are a serious threat to humans.

Yet, corporations have tried to put out propaganda saying global warming is a hoax. 99% of scientists agree (including almost al nobel laureates in the field). Wake up before it's too late.

LOL!! A sure sign of global warming- a blue collar collapsing in the heat. After a life time in construction, including the American South, I've learned that there are two kinds who drop in the "extreme heat"- those with health issues and the bastards who refuse to hydrate. When I used to have my own crews I had a simple rule in the high summer heat- everyone drinks a bottle of water every half hour- something I learned in the military. I have never had anyone go down due to heat even when working in the steamy Georgia. I provided the water, naturally.

Ok but not everyone has a boss like you. Not everyone knows how much to drink and some may think a bottle of water every hour is enough. You learned this in the military. It was actually taught to you. How can you come down on those that did not have the same education on this topic?

This has nothing to do about having a good boss or a bad boss, military or not. This is common sense practice to hydrate on hot days.
Google is your friend for self education. In today's technology, ignorance is not acceptable.

You'd be surprised how uncommon the common sense is. That's why, these days, we have safely people, check lists, step by step instructions and reminders, written norms, practices, guidelines, etc. And people still get hurt, mostly due to inattention, carelessness and plain old stupidity and the "fuck you, I know better" attitude. I guess it's just the human condition.

I am with you, I worked in heavy industrial construction in my younger days. On the construction site there was plenty of 5 gallon water coolers, disposable paper cups and salt tablet dispensers.
Today everyone knows everything, they get upset if given advice. I say "f**k it and move on, refuse to be a baby sitter for idiots.

I’m going to disagree. As I said, some people will believe they are hydrating and not realize it is not enough.

Sorry but I just don’t agree that 8billion people in the world would be googling how much water they should be drinking per hour to stay hydrated in a heat wave. It is just totally unrealistic and therefore I’m not going fault or shame someone who Succumb to heatstroke

Looking to Summer 2023 the real emergency is for everyone to have AC
installed in their residence. Waking up to global warming won't help. You
can believe global warming is real and still die in the heat.

It's not about 8 billion people. It's about the immediate employees put in your care or just people close to you. It's about a landscaping guy running 3 guys laying sod in 35° or bunch of roofers baking in the sun, etc. You take care of that, you take care of 8 billion people. I'm an optimist, obviously.

Bit off topic, but I haven't used my AC so far this year. I run the dehumidifier because we're in Ontario. I use AC in my truck and it really bothers me, but it beats sweat marks on the paperwork. It could be that my daily routine upon arrival at home which includes a long, cold shower, makes higher temps less of an annoyance.

I once experienced what's called a heat syncope, where I passed out from prolonged heat with poor hydration in school. As far as I know, what I experienced wasn't a heat stroke as my body was still sweating properly and I had none of the other symptoms, but I imagine I was borderline. Thankfully, we had a freezer in the storage room, and my teacher got some bagged ice for me immediately. Apparently I was only out for like 15 seconds.

Ever since then I've tried to take hydration seriously. Sometimes I still get so busy I fail to hydrate properly, but I always try to make a point of doing so.
