Public figures, athletes and Police officers are usually identified when they've allegedly committed a serious crime. Withholding his name could have to do with the suspect being involved with other crimes and not wanting to potentially jeopardize another ongoing investigation. That's my theory anyway.
We shall see. Maybe it's a foreign dignitary. And given the victim is a 4-year-old, the authorities may have feared for the perp's life considering how pissed the public would be about diplomatic immunity in such cases.
If that person is a foreign dignitary a country can always do the right thing by revoking that person’s credentials or better yet cane that person for killing a child.
ARE they correct? From a practical standpoint, it's damn near impossible for a driver to see a motorcyclist lane splitting if its going at a modestly higher rate of speed than surrounding traffic. I've seen bikers lane splitting at 80+ km/h when traffic was at a near standstill. All it would take is one car switching lanes and they'd be spattered on the road. And I wouldn't blame the driver in that case. Not sure which side the law would take.

Maybe. One big tell will be who represents him. If he has a top dog criminal lawyer it will be on Hells Angels dime and he will most likely receive a very lenient sentence.
