Not helpful trying to make it about Blacks and Whites instead of plagiarism and antisemitism. Its not a attack on Black women, even the student committee wanted her out.

Rev. Al Sharpton's civil rights organization to picket in protest of Gay's resignation

Activist and TV personality Rev. Al Sharpton expressed outrage at Claudine Gay's resignation in a statement Tuesday.

"President Gay’s resignation is about more than a person or a single incident. This is an attack on every Black woman in this country who’s put a crack in the glass ceiling," he said.

Sharpton is the host of "PoliticsNation," a weekly talk show broadcast on MSNBC.

Sharpton placed the blame for Gay's resignation on Wall Street financier and Harvard alum Bill Ackman's "relentless campaign against President Gay, not because of her leadership or credentials but because he felt she was a DEI hire."

Ackman has been a vocal critic of Gay's tenure as Harvard president in the months following her controversial Congressional testimony when she failed to fully condemn hate speech calling for genocide against Jews. Gay later apologized for her comments.

Sharpton said his civil rights organization, the National Action Network (NAN), will picket outside of Ackman's office in New York on Thursday.

"If he doesn’t think Black Americans belong in the C-Suite, the Ivy League, or any other hallowed halls, we’ll make ourselves at home outside his office,” Sharpton wrote.

That's not a logically sound statement.

The student committee can want her out and it still be an attack on Black women in positions of power.
Nothing about it being a student committee means it can't be.
The two things seem completely unrelated.

What's not logically sound? She resigned because of plagiarism and antisemitism, the student committee also wanted her out. There was no complaints of wanting her out because she 's Black and here we have Sharpton trying to make it about Black women.

The sentence " Its not a attack on Black women, even the student committee wanted her out" is not logically sound.

I'm not saying Sharpton is right, I am saying that on its own, that isn't an argument that holds together logically unless you are trying to say that student committees (or this student committee) cannot be motivated by racism and/or sexism.
If that is what you are saying, I'd like to see some evidence.

The argument "No, this is actually only about plagiarism and antisemitism, race and sex have nothing to do with it" is fine and may even be true.
I am sure Sharpton has his counter arguments for that (or if he doesn't, that it gets noticed quickly).

Given that Rufo is on the record that this was a propaganda and culture war strike and not really about plagiarism or antisemitism, there's a lot to be suspicious of here.

Valcazar, just say what you mean, say what you believe. Lewis Carroll is far less oblique.

I did say exactly what I believed.
That sentence isn't a logical argument.

Was this "an attack on black women"?
I don't know.

Was it an attack on DEI and higher education?
Yes, according to the people who initiated and guided the campaign.

Does that mean Gay is blameless and didn't do anything she is accused of?
No.

Given that Stefanik gave the most embarrassing performance of anyone at the hearing, you gotta laugh!
Mandrill, the 3 college presidents at the hearing were a joke. Stefanik was the only good one at the hearing, who asked proper questions etc 2 down 1 to go. The president of MIT, is the only president who hasn't resigned yet.....LMAO

Let's just call it an intersection of accountability.

The important thing is she became a liability to the university with her race not being an issue. Contributions and applications are down. Some will cheer because she didn't challenge antisemitism. Some will publicly and many others privately will cheer her dismissal for her academic violations.

Clearly Sharpton and others aren't convinced that race wasn't an issue.
Given the history here, I'm willing to listen to what they have to say.

Contributions and applications are down.
I'm not saying the campaign wasn't effective.
It clearly was.

New whistleblower complaint alleging 50 instances of plagiarism by
@Harvard
President Gay. The whistleblower raises serious issues about how the initial investigation into Gay’s work was conducted. The whistleblower levels credible accusations against the
@Harvard
governing board in its apparent attempt to quash the initial inquiry into her work and its summarial dismissal of the allegations, relying on a still undisclosed three-person panel of ‘experts’ who assessed Gay’s work outside of the normal process for such investigations. The coverup is often worse than the crime. The media must dig deeper here. Gaygate is in need of greater sunlight. A must read: https://freebeacon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Complaint2.pdf

What would sway you to think that Gay's dismissal was put in motion by racism?

Gay has suffered a similar fate to the white President of Penn. The plagiarism made Gay's standing even more problematic. So take your pick.
