I have no idea, the place is so closed--it seems to me to be a crap shoot. On the one hand this is an opportunity for change, if the new guy is really going to be the son who has been groomed he can leverage his Swiss education to reach out to the West. On the other hand the place is run by the military which may have an interest in maintaining the conflict.

Who knows.

Poll attached!
What is NK's relationship with "the world"? What is the conflict and what is the source of that conflict?

KJI died at the wrong time, Europe is in deep economic troubles. The USA is has a debt crisis. China does not want a region of cheaper goods manufacturers at their door steps. The best the NK can hope for is flow change. The can show that they want intergration with the rest of the world but nothing will happen for at least 5 years.

North Korea is fucked up. Period. All of those people who were crying hysterically were brainwashed and or probably had family members held hostage at gunpoint and was the reason they were crying hysterically
I noticed in one of the main pictures released by NK state media there were a group of crying people kneeling and bent over, crying their eyes out. Just barely visible in the frame of the picture you could see there were a large number of stoic people standing around watching the spectacle..

However, most of the citizens have been brain-washed to the nth degree. Can you imagine living your life under such propoganda,
There is hope for them if they change course. Remember that China was in essentially the same configuration under the Cultural Revolution, up until the 7 October 1976 coup--just as economically fucked, just as brainwashed.
The brainwashing needs a rinse cycle which will take a couple of generations.
The word "brainwashing" is being thrown around a lot in this thread. While I don't support the government of North Korea in any way, I think that the posters above should consider the brainwashing that shapes our own attitudes and values. Just because the brainwashing here is not controlled by one man who is trying to close his country off from any outside influences does not mean that we are not brainwashed just as much.

they probably are...alotta SPs from China are from PRK... who's to say they haven't crosed thru to our borders?
Most of those are in the north near the border and most are sex slaves repaying "debts" for help they received trying to get to the south.

Those people consider the Kim family as gods. Seriously. Brainwashed, absolutely but family held at gunpoint? No need, their faith is absolute.
