Uncomfortable Texting

So, I was asked by a new-ish SP to text her to set up an appointment. Sent text as requested.
I had already been PMing her on another board and we had agreed on the service level. In her return text, she texted the specific service.

I got a little freaked and ignored her text. Later, I PMd her and asked her to forget the whole deal. She claimed she didn't understand why, but agreed to erase my number. Ever depend on your instincts?....Something seemed a little funky with this deal - no phone number, just text. Spelled out the SP service...I dunno, but this was just weird to me. I felt like I was being set for a sting. Is it possible to get busted over texting?

Got a Speakout hobby phone.
I didn't like the SP spelling-out the specifics of the session in the texting. Didn't like it one bit no no no.

No, I think this may have been an over-reaction on your part.

This won't be a sting from the LE. The only problem with such a text is if your wife sees it.

There was probably nothing to worry about. Just a guess, but it might be that she had problems with clients claiming a different service level was agreed upon, and she wanted to put it in "writing" one more time to make sure there was no misunderstanding.

I hope she was talking dirty to you :)

Many SPs prefer texting for one it speeds things up and they will be detailed in a text. You definitely overreacted. I prefer detailed that way we both know what we are expecting. If you wanted to make sure it was a lady you were talking you could have called. I hope you did not cancel at the last minute.

I agree with Ladyluvr. I prefer texting for the preliminary info. It's nice too if you're deciding between a couple of ladies and have a short memory like me. I'll usually close the deal with a phone call, so I can hear her voice.

I often use text when I'm on my way to a rendezvous, to get her final location coordinates. Again, nothing to remember or write down... it's all in the text.

police needs a warrant to tap your or the sp's phone, i would think this extends to text. so if they have it, it wouldnt make a difference if you call or text. and if it was a sting then it wouldnt matter either how you communicate with them. the only thing that i can think of with texting is it leaves an electronic paper trail that someone can read if they had access to either phones.

Ok - thanks for all the reassurance. I'll know better next time.
We hadn't gotten to the point of arranging an actual time, so no real piss-off damage done. Just me being paranoid (again).

LE is concerned about nuisances "ie prostitution on the streets".

A question for the ladies...

What is the difference between a "private" or blocked caller and a throwaway cell with no way of identifying the caller in either case?

Well not too much.. other than if they used the phone for anything personal they could be tracked.. but we keep records for no shows and trouble makers.. its amazing to see guys who have pulled really bad stuff still call.. like 6 years later..
