Islamic faith school slammed for limiting girls to ‘knitting and sewing’.


Gender inequalities still persist at an Islamic faith school which limits girls’ technology curriculum to knitting and sewing, according to Ofsted.

In June our sister paper the Luton News reported that Rabia Girls’ and Boys’ School had been panned by inspectors for “patchy” teaching and a curriculum which “only scrapes the surface of what it means to be a good citizen in Britain”.

Concerns were also raised over the differing subjects provided for the 269 pupils at the girls’ school, in Portland Road, and the boys’ school, in Dunstable Road.

A follow-up visit has found that the independent school, which charges £2,000 in annual fees for its pupils, has not fully addressed the problems.

A report published on Monday reads: “Boys have more time to study the national curriculum subjects.

“Older girls do not have the same opportunities to study science in a practical way because they do not have the same access to laboratory facilities that the boys have.”

It adds: “Opportunities for girls to develop a range of skills in physical education are limited because of the available outside space on their site. “Boys visit a local sports centre with greater facilities and they have the opportunity to learn how to swim.”

Inspectors also found that the school’s newly introduced design and technology curriculum “limits girls to activities related to knitting and sewing”.

Significant weaknesses in the school’s teaching still remain, the report added.

Following the prior inspection school spokesperson Saqib Amin claimed the report was “strongly politically and media led...especially with the recent fallout of the alleged Trojan Horse inquiry in Birmingham”.

Headteacher Mirza Akbar was unavailable for comment when contacted by the Herald & Post this week.

Are you aware that heroines like Malala Y. fought this type of nonsense. That is why many Muslims put their children in what's known as Public Schools (they are top private schools in reality) in England and, their daughters achieve top grades. These schools that you refer to are in ghetto style neighborhoods that are run by those nutty Imans. Who doesn't know Malala, the poor girl got shot in the face for wanting to go to school. Unfortunately she can't go back home, but she's doing a good job of bring this to the world's attention.

A teacher is believed to have been burned alive while her pupils were forced to watch as Taliban gunmen stormed a school in Pakistan in an apparent revenge attack for Malala Yousafzai winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
Seven Taliban terrorists attacked the Army Public School in the north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar yesterday, slaughtering 132 children in the deadliest terrorist attack in the nation's history.
Harrowing eyewitness accounts revealed how students were forced to watch as bodies were burned beyond recognition.

Other survivors told how they played dead while insurgents scoured the school looking for children to shoot, before open fire indiscriminately - sometimes with smiles on their faces.
During a three-hour orgy of bloodshed, seven jihadists claimed at least 141 lives before themselves being killed.

Now one expert has claimed that the horrific events which unfolded yesterday could have been in retaliation to 17-year-old Malala winning this year's Nobel Peace Prize.
The massacre was also said to be an act of revenge against the Pakistani army, which has been attempting to suppress the Pakistani Taliban in their north Waziristan tribal homelands over the past few months.

Malala - the youngest ever person to win the award - was shot by the Pakistani Taliban in 2012 while on a school bus, as punishment for advocating education for women in Pakistan.
She has since become a worldwide symbol for the fight against oppression on women and the right to education.
Ahmed Rashid, an expert on the Islamic militants, told the BBC that the insurgents had various reasons to attack the school - one of which was to send a message to Malala's supporters.
The Taliban has previously warned that Malala had forged a pact with 'Western satanic forces'.
Hours after the attack, Malala led the national condemnation on the 'atrocious' events, saying she was 'heartbroken' by the 'cold-blooded act of terror'.
The massacre began early yesterday morning as the gunmen stormed the school. A teacher is said to have been doused in petrol and set alight, her pupils forced to watch her die an awful, agonising death.

The beauty of the British system s that their inspectors do have those powers, and have already closed a shitload of similarly run schools in birmingham. They routinely close down poorly run schools based on rigorous student testing, if kids performance outcomes aren't up to standards.. Including Muslim as well as non Muslim schools

Yepper. The take-home from this item should not be the inevitable hand wringing of "oh noes, whatever will we do? Creeping Sharia is going to take over the West". The take home message should be that a properly organised (and yes, funded), system of oversight will make sure this shit gets dealt with whenever it happens. It's a good news story, carpdammit!
