Anderson cuts weight as well and it is rumoured that he walks around at least 205...So that would pretty much negate GSP's 185....

Anderson may not be the best MMA wrestler but he is certainly no lightweight in that aspect either...He's been working on his Wrestling with Collegiate Wrestlers in California...Being outwrestled by (former Olympian and former Pride Champion of two weight classes) Dan Henderson is nothing to be ashamed off...Henderson outwrestled Rampage at LightHeavyweight for the first half of their fight...

A fighter will have to be pretty slick to submit Anderson....
Silva has only been submitted twice in his career....Once back in 2003 and the other time in 2004 by Ryo Chonan who submitted him with a Flying Heel Hook - one of the slickest submissions in MMA history (supposedly Silva had a Knee injury as well and was forced to tap)....And his BJJ skills have only improved since then...
He's fought quite a few Submission Specialists (Lutter, Newton, Jeremy Horn, Marquadt) and has beaten them all....I doubt that GSP has enough BJJ skill and slickness to pull of submission on The Spider....

Long limbs may make it easier to submit but it makes it easier to pull guard and pull of certain submissions (like the triangle)....Also Silva long limbs makes it easier for him to lock on a body triangle even if he's on the bottom (and that's a bitch to have on you especially if you're tired and trying to breathe)...

And up kicks...Silva can throw some nasty upkicks with those long legs of his...

In regards to preparation as well....I think Silva would be harder for GSP to prepare for because of his unique skills and physique....Silva on the other hand would have an easier time to prepare for St Pierre since there are more fighters like GSP (probably not as good of course) but similar in style and physique.....
Good point about Silva's long legs being able to put opponents in tight body triangles. In his fights even when he's on the ground pulling guard his triangle can control the opponent very well and that frees up his hands to strike (like against Lutter). Now the more I think about it the harder it is for me to picture GSP winning, as much as I am a fan of his. GSP is below Silva in almost all areas except for wrestling and takedowns. But with his striking range, GSP would have a hard time taking him down.

Now here's a crazy scenario: How would Anderson Silva do against Wanderlei Silva in Wandy's prime (the 18 fight winning streak in Pride). Both are good strikers and have great Muy Thai clinches and knees. Wandy may be more aggressive, but Anderson Silva has the reach and BJJ advantage.

Lyoto Machida beats Ortiz maybe even a KO

Wanderlei Silva KO's Keith Jardine

Penn chokes out Sherk

IMO Penn is the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Wanderlei Silva will be the champ soon...

My two cents. Wanderlai's best years were when he was fighting under 200lbs. He was fast, strong, heavy handed and with a quick recovery. The Wandy then is definitely not the Wandy now. After 40 fights, weight fluctuations and numerous brawls (he was never great defensively), it's starting to take it's toll. The cockiness and bloodlust is gone. The Wand of 4 years ago would take Jardine brutally. Now though, I'm not sure. Go with the underdog if you're betting.
Never have I been happier that I was wrong. Still not quite sure he's back because it was over so quick, but it seems his boxing has gotten better - more relaxed, straighter punches, good movement. A few years ago everyone was writing Rampage off and he's turned his career around. Hope the same happens for Wand and he gets a rematch with Liddell and then fights Rampage.

It was one of the best PPV fights in a long time (Pride included). I was not disappointed by any of the main card fights, and some of the undercard fights are all great too. These fights look like actual sports rather than brawls, with some great and slick submissions (Palhares and Yoshida) as well as some brutal KOs to please everyone (Wanderlei, Carwin, Silva, etc.)

I do think that Sherk vs. Penn could've continued. I still wasn't sure why Sherk was not allowed to continue. Sure he's dazed but there's a minute of break. Who knows what Penn's energy and focus would be like after the third round? I thought Machida did great, and it's the first time that I've seen him with some great sprawls. But props to Ortiz, he came prepared and almost pulled an upset submissions. But this shows that Machida did not panic when caught. He rolled from a triangle to an armbar and I think the roll and his sweat helped break the hold.

I think the next in line for the LWH title is Wanderlei, provided Rampage beats Forrest (which he will). The fans would love to see Wanderlei-Rampage 3, and see if the knees are still deadly. I have a feeling that Machida would be matched up against Thiago Silva in a battle of undefeated to determine the next top contender, especially now that Shogun and Liddell are both out. What do you guys think?

I don't know. It looked like Sherk was out twice, right after the knee and after one of the following punches. The ref looked like he was about to jump in then backed off (maybe because he knew there was only 5 or so seconds left).

If Dan Henderson goes back to LHW then any contender, especially Wanderlei Silva, should have to go through Hendo for a shot at Rampage.

I would like to see Lyoto Machida vs Thiago Silva in a battle of the undefeated, but I would also like to see if they can tear up the rest of the LHW division first.

I thought I heard Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou mention that he wants to fight Shogun. I would like to see that fight.

I would like to see the middle weight division filled with the following, with a every possible combination fighting each other three times:
Anderson Silva
Dan Henderson
Lyoto Machida
BJ Penn

I was interested that Penn says he wants GSP next. That would be good. I like them both. It would depend on whether Penn gained 15 pounds of muscle or fat (like last time he was at 170). I am not so sure Wanderlei is back, Jardine sometimes is horrible. We'll see.
