Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler for the lightweight title tonight in Houston tonight.

The arena will be sold out. Going to take Chandler here by 3rd round TKO.

I'm thinking his outstanding wrestling will nullify Oliveira's BJJ. Let's See.

Oliveira has won 8 straight though. Stopping 7 of his opponents within the distance. Including standout performances against Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson.

He's got probably the best combat BJJ in the game right now. I just don't see how he going to be successful getting Chandler down to implement his game.

Chandler should've rained bombs the last 15 seconds of the first round, without any fear of getting locked up in a submission. He had Do Bronx on the ground beaten, bloodied and dazed. Overconfidence cost him the fight and the title.

Awesome crisp short left hook from Oliveira to start the fight ending sequence. A well deserved victory.

Oliveira is a true champion. He came back from the brink of defeat to KO Chandler. His striking has elevated considerably.

Great fight......
Awesome fight indeed. the energy of CO put a smile on my face after he won, man he was so happy to win and good on him - well deserved. The other co-main even with BD was great as well, nice to see BD win too. Man that guy deserves a title fight, always thought MC was overrated and imho didn't deserve a title shot just yet but hey what do I know. Main events were great.

I feel bad for Tony, he does not seem to be his past self lately. Unfortunately, losing streak is taking its toll.

Dariush is definitely an underrated fighter, and he really shined today, imposing his will and launching himself right into the title contention mix.

Fight I enjoyed the most, was Barboza/Burgos. Burgos is a frigging machine! What a chin on this guy! Barboza threw everything but the kitchen sink at him, but he was still pushing forward, with a relentless pace and tenacity.

Bunch of gnarly injuries last night:

Split shin - Barboza
Delayed reaction KO - Burgos
Broken arm - Souza
Possible torn ligaments/meniscus - Ferguson

The sport has past Ferguson by from what I can see. His history of late scrambles to pull out victories just isn't a successful strategy in today's UFC. It's like Din Thomas said on the telecast last night. He's lacking fundamentals because he's never needed them. The fight Gaethje exposed him. If he was smart he would just call it a day. But you how these guys just can't except it.

Jacare needs to walk away as well. He had a great run but he's a split second behind now and that's kryptonite at this level. I've never seen him out grappled before....

Edson Barboza has found his weight class. He's a force to be reckoned with. That KO was as funky as I've ever seen in combat sports. I felt bad for Burgos that he had to eat those extra two shots while he was out though. Dana White said afterwards they made sure he got right to the hospital. It's always worrisome to a late reaction like that.

It was good to finally see Andrea Lee in the winners circle as well. She really impressed with her overall game against Antonina Shevchenko . She worked for that triangle choke for practically the entire round. Then bam there's the arm and it's a wrap. Lee looks like her fight IQ is improving. She's always had the ability........

I was rooting for Chandler. I'm guessing he regrets not raining down shots like crazy at the end of the first when he had Oliveira hurt.

Ferguson needs to give it up. His run is up.

I really feel bad for Tony.

I think he brought in Freddy Roach. So who knows maybe he can reincent himself.

He is beloved and he could follow the path of Cowboy..... a guy they keep around because of his following not so much his win streaks.

In Tony case i think people are quick to forget his win streak and that streak included veterans who are fundamentally sound so im bot so sure his fundamentals are as weak as the commentators suggested.

As for the chandler fight im glad he lost. There are just some fighters that rib you the wrong way. MC is that for me. Its easy to say just rain down punches at the end of round 1. Maybe that would have worked but..... lets not forget Olivera is a very accomplished bjj practitioner..... one sloppy punch could lead to an arm bar...perhaps that was in chandlers mind... no need to over commit and risk when you are dominating
