On a positive note the UFC returned yesterday and put quite a show. All the athletes competed hard and some great fights happened. Sadly one fighter tested positive. Let's hope he makes a speedy recovery.

What did you think of the event yesterday? I personally liked it more without the fans cause you really get to hear everything that you can't hear with 30,000 plus fans in the arena.

It was great to have it back.

Some good fights, but the Ferguson vs. Gaethje could easily stand as the best fight of 2020. I can't believe Tony took the beating he did.
I like Gaethje, and wanted him to win so much. I was worried that Tony with endless energy, would come on strong in the championship rounds.

Without fans, it was kinds of cool hearing the hits and breathing. But honestly, with the fans is better.
I like when the crowd go nuts when someone is KO'd
All due respect Kathleen I couldn't call the Gaethje/Ferguson fight the best fight of 2020 because really it was a one sided beat down. Gaethje even said in the post fight presser that he only really felt one elbow. He failed to mention the uppercut that put him down at the end of the one round though.

As for the no audience. I got a big kick out of it when Hardy said he started checking his opponents kicks when he heard DC talking about it in his commentary. That was classic. The viewer experience was very similar to watching an episode of ''The Ultimate Fighter''. Which I don't mind because you can actually hear and witness the raw sounds of a real fight. Hearing the corners yell their instructions is very compelling as well.

I was disappointed in the Cruz stoppage. Thought he was on the verge of getting up when it was stopped. Give mad props to Henry though, he seemed like he was just one step ahead all fight. He's fun to watch. I hope this retirement is just a ploy to renegotiate his present contract.

I had Cerrone winning his bout with Pettis. Don't know how the ref missed that eye poke in the third round.

Bryce Mitchell is just a juggernaut on the ground. It's been a long time since I've seen that level of BJJ from somebody that young. He's one to watch out for for sure.

Another thing I want to point out is how the MMA media are attacking the UFC for staging events. Especially Bloody Elbow. I know they are owned by VOX which a leftist voice. But its disheartening to see negative narrative after negative narrative of what Dana White and the UFC are trying to do here. Even Dana in his interviews is growing impatient with them. Fortunately he won't be easily deterred.

Kat. I know you know your stuff when it comes to combat sports but.. I didn't think it was such a great fight since it was mostly one sided. Basically Tony punched out Justin's fist's with his face. My fav fight so far in 2020 was Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Zhang Weili

Tony comes across as way too arrogant, and I think he looked past JG.

This was an amazing fight for me, because Justin was an underdog, and not only did I see Tony get beat, but destroyed.
This was the best Justin I'd ever seen, and never seen a fighter do exactly as his coach instructed..

Agreed that Joanna vs Zhang is the fight of the year thus far and one of the best I've seen in the UFC period.

Trevor Wittman is a great coach. Justin is buying in now and the results are astounding. He also coaches one of my favourite fighters Rose Namajunas. I have to admit Rose is one of the fighters I get really charged up watching. Maybe to much, lol.

Here's crazy Tony dancing in the hospital after the fight with Justin,lol...He's a wack job but great for the sport.

I was torn this fight. I love both Tony and Justin. They are both great fighters and seem like great people even if Tony has a bit of a wacky persona in public.

I feel bad for Tony but guys like that retool and will come back stronger. He will get a real title shot soon maybe a rematch with Justin. I feel the Dagestani has to be peeing his pants. If Justin touches him it's goodnight Eileen for him. He will try to be on top of him all night.

On a side note nice to see GSP get recognized.

I got a kick out of the Gaethje Ferguson and Stephens Kattar...as someone who grew up in a boxing environment since I was 7...in a fight you don't walk down an opponent without respecting their punches...and always avoid getting hit...sure these guys can take a punch but not one too many...the worst type of KO is the one from accumulation of blows..sure 1 punch can put you out but taking 50 shots is much much worse...after rnd 3. I knew Justin is going to steamroll Tony...and those leg kicks are underrated.

Werdum (now that he's off the juice) and Stephens should retire. They are both done.

I'm surprised Tony did so badly, I don't know why he didn't do more to try and get the fight to the ground. The dude has a chin, but he took quite a beating.

I wasn't really that impressed by the card to be honest. The ref stopped Cejudo vs Cruz way too early, I agree. Cejudo has got some really questionable wins under his belt, I still believe Mighty Mouse edged him in their second fight but UFC brass wanted him gone. I don't get why Henry wanted to retire under these circumstances, he should've waited to do it in front of a crowd.

Cerrone vs Pettis was either a draw or a slight edge to Cerrone IMO.
