So, we are now into 2022. November seems a long way off but the U.S. is headed for the mid-terms.

"The United States
Democrats will lose their majorities in the US House and Senate (95 percent)
Midterm elections are fairly predictable. With extremely rare exceptions, the party in power loses seats. Public opinion is, as political scientist Christopher Wlezien has argued, thermostatic: The public elects one party, then finds that its policies are a little too far left or right for its tastes, and compensates by moving the other way in the midterms."

Currently, the U.S. Senate is a virtual tie with the GOP holding 50 seats, the Dems with 48 and two independents.

Currently, the Dems has a majority in the House and of course the President.

The only benefit of the Democrats losing the majority in Congress is that the Republicans will demonstrate how idiotic they are in majority before the Presidential election.

Won't help.
When Congress does nothing, most Americans blame the President even though he has nothing to do with that.

They can do LOTS of idiotic things, but the GOP taking congress in 2022 (which is the most likely outcome) means absolute nightmare shitshow for most the last two years of Biden's presidency.

I know for a fact that there are some intelligent and rational Americans.

The election isn't till November. Looking at any expected result as a forgone conclusion just isn't rational...

And in the course pf doing so they will irreparably harm democracy as we know it.

True, there are big wildcards.
Inflation.
Trump's legal problems
Jan 6 investigation going all the way up
SC screwing voting rights up even more
GOP installing more anti democratic laws and election workers

I don't rule out the possibility that the Dems will keep control of the House and might even gain a seat or two in the Senate.

Let's not forget the governor races.
"The 2022 United States gubernatorial elections will be held on November 8, 2022, in 36 states and three territories. Also, special elections may take place (depending on state law) if other gubernatorial seats are vacated. As most governors serve four-year terms, the last regular gubernatorial elections for"

The election isn't the real worry, fascism is the real worry.
1/3 of Americans think the use of violence against their government is sometimes justified and half of Americans are now worried about the end of democracy in the US.

The Dems don't even have to campaign in the hardcore liberal states like NY, Washington, Oregon and California. Those states will vote Dem no matter what.

When I lived in Calgary 3 lifetimes ago, I did a few trips down the U.S. west coast. Beautiful cities and country. I hear now that Seattle, Portland, L.A., San Fran, etc. are s---holes.

Question: Aren't Trump and the late Epstein from NYC?

I think democracies by their very nature are difficult to govern. Look at all the protests in Europe over COVID policies.

It's possible, but it isn't likely.
A lot will depend on what has happened to Biden's approval/disapproval numbers.
Uphill climb even if he is above water on those.

They do if they want congress.
Lots of districts that are Republican even in so-called "liberal" states.

Rumor the Republicans will take over with all this mess and a president that doesn't know if he's coming or going. Hopefully

"Biden's cratered approval numbers are a bad sign for Democrats in this midterm election year. The party in power traditionally faces headwinds in a president's first midterm, and when its president's approval rating is this low, that can spell even more trouble."
Biden approval hits another new low as more Democrats sour on him, poll finds : NPR
There's been a flurry of criticism aimed at Biden in the leftist media. WaPo the NYT and others all of a sudden noticed that Joe is old and clueless, lol! Can you imagine the skill and the level of journalism required to uncover that? The House is gone, that's given, but if the Republicans can crack 60 in the Senate (unlikely) this will be a catastrophic blow to anything Democrat in 23 and 24. Either way, Joe will be a lame duck after the vote.
