The Great Shat's episode Terror at 20,000 Feet was directed by Richard Donner. He directed another 6 episodes then launched the Superman and Lethal Weapon franchise. He also directed The Omen.
Hey Kat,....
I also like the Outer Limits,
...
Just read his wiki. He died at 64 which isn't exactly young, and it was due to his own murder-suicide of himself and his wife. That was the best episode of S1: Within Walking Distance. Gig Young made that episode work, phenomenal actor. He became the first TZ actor to win an Oscar for They Shoot Horses Don't They? Sadly like Richard Conte he died before his time and isn't as well known today.
That episode was called the Sandkings. Too funny you knew that one, it was one of my favorites.
Very cool way of looking at the show.
He also saw action in the Pacific Theatre - and I believe he received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action.Look up Serling's bio on wikipedia and you'll see what he did before the entertainment biz- testing parachutes and ejector seats for fighter planes. In the second case, he was paid half before the test, and if he lived he'd get the other half. Yikes! I'm also grateful to the original OP, who said the Twilight Zone in currently on the space channel.
...lots unknown actors who would gain fame later.
That was the best episode of S1: Walking Distance. Gig Young ...
And Ron Howard (or "Ronnie" as he was listed in the credits) as one of the kids, before he was Opie. That TZ episode is excellent. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4v10c6
Agree. It's like when they did "Twilight Zone, the Movie". That's the movie where Vic Morrow was killed during the helicopter accident. I don't think the movie really worked because they tilted more towards a horror genre than the storytelling of Serling.Elated with the returns on St: Discovery, CBS is now rebooting TTZ. Without Rod Serling's genius, I don't believe it will work.
