TV Signal - Splitters & Combiners - Same Thing?

Ok, so I'm getting my HD off air system set up.

I'm putting 2 Channel Master antennas up on my roof. (A buddy of mine who works in broadcast recommended a Channel Master 4228 Multi-Bay HDTV UHF Antenna for a shot into Buffalo and a 4221 to hit the CN tower. He then suggested combining the signal at the source and bring down one RG cable to the TV. By the looks of things a splitter and a combiner is just the same thing, you just reverse the unit. Is that right? Or do I have to get a separate combiner.

If so, where do I get a combiner, (preferably weatherproof as it will be on the roof).

Also, if I get a long reel of RG cable, is it easy to get connectors and also is it easy to install these connectors?

Don't want to screw up a multi-thousand dollar purchase by making one little mistake. (no antennas are not multi-thousand, but the HDTV is)

Many splitters are combination splitter/combiners (that is, they allow the signal to flow in both directions). Some aren't (that is, they're designed to insert additional loss in the reverse direction). Know which ones you're using and you'll be fine.

I asked in another thread but did not get anywhere...we have Xpressvu HD PVR driving two TV's, one an HD LCD and the other our "old" (LOL 4 yr) regular Panasonic which is in the kid's bedroom.

I want to add another old TV in our bedroom and use the signal that is going to the LCD in our living room. Is this possible? The LCD is hooked up to the PVR with HDMI cable. As far as I can figure the Panasonic is a cable from the back of the PVR.

I have tried attaching splitters to all of the cables on the back of the PVR but I must be doing something wrong.

I also have an unused 5600 PVR that if needed I could hook up to the 3rd TV.
Thanks.

Get an RF Modulator http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=RFModulator&product=1511214 and hook it up to the yellow red and white on video one of the pvr and run a coax cable to the tv in the bedroom or get one of these for a wireless conection http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=VideoSender&product=1502572 This will also let you use your remote from the bedroom

Thanks...I'lll give that try. I already have run coax from the PVR to the house coax in the basement so I'll skip the wireless route.
