TV commercials that piss you off

Yeah, the VW ads and beaver Bell ads are annoying.

I'd also submit the stupid "Stain and Drain...it's the Bee's Knees" english accent guy. THe dubbing on that commercial is soo brutal that I wouldnt be surprised if he was saying something completely different.

What bothers me than any specific TV ad is the fact that television shows have been shortened and choppped up so much these days to make room for so many commercials it's become almost unbearable to watch TV these days. Literally I've seen a instances of a commercial interlude, then back to the show, then 5 minutes later back to commercials again. I swear in the future commercials are going to be the TV shows, just one episode after another all based around some product.

Personally I find the standard of the advertising and marketing people in North America in general to be pretty piss poor (especially when compared to the UK)

Far too many adverts on TV and radio, 95% of them at the same abysmally low common denominator. Christ do these people think everyone is a moron and unless you jack up the volume and repeat the same ad a bazillion times (often the same ad repeated two or more times within a minute or 3)

That's largely due to the laws they have in Europe restricting the amount of advertising per hour. This makes the time more expensive, and makes the advertising companies try harder.

The one useful thing the CRTC could do (aside from cell phone number portability) would be implement similar laws.

I agree with everyone so far (especially that gillette commercial, I mean, how amatuerish!) but I tell you I change the channel when that ikea commecial comes on.

But you have to admit, the advertisers did their job well if we all remember it.....

We remember because we hate them . I don't remember the product I think it's pepto bismol for upset stomach , diareha etc hate it.

I hate the swiffer commercials...where the lady is talking to her mop " you're just not good enough anymore...we've had our time together , but I find we go over the same things time and time again"...OMG i hate that commercial. Maybe it reminds me of a breakup...lol

also the Tim Horton's cristmas commercial where the "men" were in the snowfort comparing their Tim H Christmas presents. If there was a god they would have been hit but the dofus's travelling across the country with the songs they downloaded onto their phones and they would have all perished in a spectacular crash.

Okay, none of the aforementioned commercials hold a candle to that stupid series of ads for "Six Flags" every summer. Each one has that tool in the old-man makeup dancing like an electrified cat.

I swear to God I would love to simply run that bus of his over his head - then of course, set it on fire.

Government - safety and nicotine

The commericals which i find particularly annoying are:

1. The ones where the you see an accident happen and the disgusting results with the dead person citing the lack of safety measures taken. Do you really need to see a piece of metal piercing someones body with blood splattered everywhere.

2. The commerical where the guy who quits smoking envisions trashing his office while watching collegues smoke. Now i'm a smoker and realize it must be tough to quit but come on....am i really gonna feel like throwing chairs at work.

Both these commericals are run by the government who i guess can get away with bad taste without repercusion.

Now that the Nazi Brewing Company has taken over Molson's all their ads are stupid and sleazy. I sincerely miss the pre-Nazi ads like "I am Canadian".

Also the MacDonald's BLT ad set in Newfoundland, makes Newfies look like morons.
