What made chicken wings so popular then? When I was a kid growing up, it was tuna casserole and chicken wings to keep the food budget down. I never saw chicken wings on display in IGA or Fred's, my mom always had to ask for them, usually at the same time she checked to see if there were any bones for the dog.
It was not until I went to university that wings were a popular bar food, and if I remember correctly it was $1 for a pound, plus celery, carrot sticks and blue cheese dip.
They are no longer the cheap food.
Might have something to do with they are so damned good. What made chicken wings so popular then?
Is it an influence from the US and A?
I love how he says 100% meat. More like 50% fat and 50% meat! lol
I remeber in Edmonton in the 90's at the Sawmill, free hamburgers, wings, etc, etc, etc, during Happy Hour. Also, Wings were 10 cents (at any time of the day) each, you had to order a min of 10, but had the choice of like 10 different flavours. Included, carrots, celery and dipping sauce. This was pretty common place through out the city. The good old days. When I was a kid growing up, it was tuna casserole and chicken wings to keep the food budget down.
