About 12 years ago I saw a news story about this lady that had 40 cats. When they asked her what she fed the cats, she said that she went to the butcher and they would give her about 60 lbs. of chicken wings for free each week. Chicken wings were not in demand at that time and you use to see it alot at buffet tables, but now they want big bucks for the chicken wings at the grocery stores.

When I was a kid growing up, it was tuna casserole and chicken wings to keep the food budget down. I never saw chicken wings on display in IGA or Fred's, my mom always had to ask for them, usually at the same time she checked to see if there were any bones for the dog.

It was not until I went to university that wings were a popular bar food, and if I remember correctly it was $1 for a pound, plus celery, carrot sticks and blue cheese dip.

They are no longer the cheap food.

Try the technique on the wings I prepared and baked and enjoyed every min.

Still I am working hard to resist the cravings on spicy Chicken wings, pairing to Guinness as I do not want to have my blood vessels clogged, thanks to the skins on the wings.

BTW, nothings turn me off faster than noticing hotties eating the wings with all of her fingers holding a chicken wing with sauces and enjoying the wing noisily!

What made chicken wings so popular then?

Is it an influence from the US and A?

I remeber in Edmonton in the 90's at the Sawmill, free hamburgers, wings, etc, etc, etc, during Happy Hour. Also, Wings were 10 cents (at any time of the day) each, you had to order a min of 10, but had the choice of like 10 different flavours. Included, carrots, celery and dipping sauce. This was pretty common place through out the city. The good old days.:)
