If he was popular and the "establishment" was trying to silence an up-and-comer, maybe.Cripes Congress until recently had an office set up specifically to pay off all the victims of sexual harassment crimes by members of Congress of both parties. They were tasked with getting NDA's and using taxpayer money to pay the women off.
If Trump used campaign finances(and I bet he did) to pay her off then sure, he is obviously guilty.
But if they try to make this a felony and perp walk him it will only strengthen his campaign. First they need to make it a turn yourself in situation. And really it is a misdemeanor charge in the scheme of things. Doing this will open the political hit job accusations. And in the USA having a political opponent arrested will raise shit loads of hackles, including swing voters.
The USA is already facing with near certainty a stock market crash and the attendant recession. The govt in power takes the hit for that. Add in the "change" candidate return and give him martyr cred and he could get in again. The Americans can be damn funny on issues of "freedom".
But he shot his bolt and missed in 2020. He's 4 years more senile and goofy. January 6 happened. The GOP attacks on abortion happened. Most people think Biden's doing a decent job in difficult times (cf. "Red Tsumani of 2022").
At this point, it's looking like a "mercy killing" just to take him off the political map. In fact, if I was a GOP politician, I'm probably down on my knees, hugging my AR-15 and kissing my grade 3 painting of Jesus and I'm praying and pissing my pants that Trump just fucking dies. And the 2nd best thing is that the fat fuck gets arrested and charged.
