It would be the second time the special counsel has notified the former president that he is likely to face indictment, this time in connection with the criminal investigation into the events leading up to the storming of the Capitol.

He received a notice from the special counsel, his second. This likely means he will face an indictment for his actions that led to the January 6th insurrection. Will other GOP politicians get nailed for this? Boebert? Jordan? Cruz? Hawley? It will be interesting to see...

And, I guess we can expect more histrionics from Trump about him being persecuted for the illegal actions he did....

I wonder if this case could go to trial quickly. I mean, there would be few if any top secret documents or national security issues...

I do find it interesting that none of Trump's white knights have come to this threat to defend him. Can they defend him? Can they seriously say that his actions do not warrant an investigation and charges???

I would think this is only the FIRST target letter intended for the capo di tutti cappi. Shortly to be followed by a whole bunch for most of the non-cooperating senior consiglieri.

Trump could murder Melania in public and Kevin McCarthy would say his arrest was partisan or some bullshit....Many never Trumpers (former GOPers) have said the party would be destroyed by Trump, and they appear to be right. Imagine if he continues to lead the GOP primaries and is convicted? They'd have to scramble to get the runner up (I think). And, unlike the documents case, which some speculate could be pushed well into 2024 thanks to the Trump appointed judge (the DOJ says they want to start it by December)...This one is in Washington, and could be brought to trial much quicker....

I could be wrong, but I think if he's convicted of any of these charges, he wouldn't be allowed to run or hold office.

rump took the case to try to throw out the verdict and claim that Carroll was slandering him by calling him a rapist.
Instead the courts said the jury was right and rump is a rapist.
