I can’t believe I may actually be buying Nikki Haley’s drivel, but part of me wonders if this could actually work to bring them back to the table. It’ll take 6-months to complete the relocation. That’s plenty of time for movement to happen on the current stalemate. This seems like it’s straight out of “The Art of Deal.”
I can see this as the final nail in the two state solution's coffin.
Which leaves Israel as a one state, apartheid country.

Combined with the ICC impending charges and the growing effect of BDS, it may eventually lead to real and positive change.

It will lead to complete chaos and loss of morals, exactly as has happened in USA, where the PRESIDENT is supporting a child molester for the highest elected body in the land.

Maybe there is a secret, vile plan to destroy all institutions of the world in order to create a new world.

No one takes the U.N. General Assembly seriously, it’s democracy for dictators and despots.
And no one takes Trump seriously, except as a serious threat to world stability. But his "democracy" IS more of a despotic dictatorship.

More like a kick in the face to Kushner. He reportedly was coming to some agreement with the Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed Bin Salman who would have influenced Palestinian Leader Abbas to accept a new treaty. Keep on cheering for Saint Trump, as he is the comedian on the World Stage.
ROFLMAO!! Kushner is an Orthodox, observant member of the Tribe. It was probably his idea, and if it wasn't, he's 100% behind the President's decision.

All of this is why I believe that Israel was behind Russian election meddling.

The Israeli government had a very strong motive to undermine Hillary Clinton. The Russians? I never understood what their motive could have been.

Just like the mob, the boss hires people to do his dirty work and maintain plausible deniability. Israel wanted Trump to win and so they hired the Russians to do the job knowing full well that the Russians would be found out. But the Russians could have cared less if they found out, they have nothing to lose. The Israelis, however, are supposed to be American allies.

There is some logic to this, relations between Israel and Russia have improved. Netanyahu didn't care much for President Obama and didn't want his policies to continue. Israel has also been cosying up to Saudi Barbarica in its fight against Iran.

However Vladimir IV did warn Trumpy that moving the embassy to Jerusalem was a bad idea.

As the resident curmudgeon on the Israeli issue, I disagree.

Netanyahu and Putin are currently in standoff, with Putin's strategy having won him Syria and Netanyahu left steaming that Assad is still in place. Israel is even now still launching attacks against Syria and trying to stop any revival of Assad's forces. The chances that they'd be working together on this are extremely low.

That said, the Israeli lobby, through mega donors and AIPAC does have massive influence on US politics. Obama was totally pissed at Netanyahu playing him for a fool and let UN SC 2334 get passed as he was leaving, which Trump tried to stop because of pressure applied from and to Jared Kushner. Trump is an idiot who most likely has no idea of the repercussions of moving the embassy. Netanyahu is also trying to take as much land and rally the support of the ultra orthodox and settlers to keep himself in power while simultaneously under massive corruption investigations. He also probably just thinks he can get away with it.

Russia is playing for influence in the region, but mostly they are doing this by trying to take down western democracies by screwing with their elections and aiding extreme right wingers to get into power. The more despots in power the more sane and conservative he looks in comparison and then he hopes to end sanctions and grow Russian economy and influence.

Moving the embassy to Jerusalem is a war crime that is only supported by the US, Trudeau, Israel and three other countries in the world. The rest of the world has repeatedly voted against ongoing colonization. Trump has just confirmed to 1.5 billion Muslims that he's racist and against their people, with this statement coming just as his Muslim ban finally gets implemented.

When Obama starts issuing Godwin Law warnings, you know shit is getting real.

So stupid all around.

LOL!!!! Jerusalem IS the capital of Israel, it's always been a capital of the Jewish state and it always will be. I guess Baghdad Bob is not an aberration. He's a representative of a larger group.
Given that the vast majority of counties don't share your fanaticism it would seem Baghdad Bob is an epithet that is better attached to you. Zionism mass produces Baghdad Bob's. Just listen to the supremacist statements and racist diatribes from Israeli leaders.

I believe that is what was envisioned when Israel was created....
Olmert actually offered that in 2008 but Abbas rejected it out of hand.

Trump's move is idiotic and will only serve to ratchet up violence. That said, it changes nothing on the ground. Jerusalem has been Israel's capital since the start. The only change is that in 1967 Israel gained control of all of the rest of Jerusalem from Jordan.

And I find it horrible that Hamas and the other Palestinian factions are using a US statement as an excuse for more violence.

There is more than enough blame on all sides of this conflict.
There is. The modern reality is though that Israel officially endorses a Two State peace while Hamas and much of Fatah reject Israel's existence in any form.

If history repeats, this will lead to a bunch of rocket attacks on settlements which will lead to another round of carpet bombings on the Gaza strip. I guess now we know why trump increased the military budget by so much, he is getting ready to start a holy war.

There are 15, I think, UN SC resolutions that everyone does take seriously there as well.
Like the ones that endorse a Two State peace based on the '67 lines as the only possible solution to the conflict? You know, the solution you reject.

It’s getting weird. Like first act super-villain shit in a Marvel movie.

Since Flynn’s verdict came out, he’s been on an absolute roll...

I very much hope this works out, but can’t see how this will possibly do anything but further destabilize the region.

The instability that we’d become accustomed to might work to the US advantage. I can’t possibly imagine this could be a policy (change) option pre-Arab Spring.

Seems like an ugly knee jerk reaction to 1 year of his son-in-law failing to get everyone back to the table. Poor guy. Nobody likes disappointing the FIL... Must be even worse if he has predator drones.

I still want to believe this is a bluff. A lot can happen in 6-months, and even Trump can’t be stupid enough to think he can recognize Jerusalem without a partition AND ever get a deal.

The rumours are that Kushner was working on a peace plan with Saudi Arabia, but it was one that Palestinians would never have taken anyways.
From what I've read this announcement just killed that plan.

Claiming Jerusalem for Israel is a war crime, clearly stated as against UN SC 2334 passed last Dec. What it will do is kill the farce of the two state solution at the same time the ICC is working on laying charges on Israel.

That timing is really stupid.

It absolutely obliterates any thread of impartiality and eliminates the farce of the US, particularly this administration, as possible mediators in any future round of negotiations.

I truly hope this doesn’t totally erupt.

Seems like a textbook psychopath move to me.
