TRUMP CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR AND 'FAMILY VALUES' REPUBLICAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING, FACES LIFE IN PRISON

BY CARLOS BALLESTEROS ON 11/19/17 AT 5:25 PM

Ralph Shortey, a former Oklahoma state senator and county campaign coordinator for President Donald Trump’s campaign last year, will plead guilty to a child sex trafficking charge after being accused of soliciting sex from a 17-year-old boy in March.

In exchange for his guilty plea, government prosecutors have agreed to drop three counts of child pornography against him.

Shortey is scheduled to plead guilty on November 30, two weeks before his trial was set to commence on December 5. Sex trafficking of a minor carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, but Shortey could be sent to life in prison for the offense at a sentencing hearing in early 2018.

Ralph Shortey, former Trump campaign coordinator for Oklahoma and Republican state senator, plead guilty to child sex trafficking.

Shortey is married and has four children.

“Mr. Shortey feels this is a necessary step in putting this painful and humiliating ordeal behind him, for both himself, his family and for the state of Oklahoma,” Shortey’s attorney Ed Blau said on Friday.

On March 9, Shortey surrendered to police on charges of engaging in child prostitution, transporting a minor for prostitution and engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church. He was released on a $100,000 bond a couple of hours after being booked.

According to the Associated Press, the charges came after police found Shortey at a Super 8 Hotel in Moore, Oklahoma, with a 17-year-old boy.

He was later charged in federal court with two counts of child pornography, production of child pornography and child sex trafficking.

Police then searched the teen’s tablet, where they found sexually explicit exchanges in which Shortey referred to the teen as “baby boy” and offered to pay him in exchange for “sexual stuff.” Police also reportedly found lotion and an open box of condoms in the room.

Shortey and the teen said they had met through Craigslist and had been messaging each other on Kik.

Oklahoma’s age of consent is 16, but its child prostitution statutes apply to any person under 18 years old, the AP reported.

Soon after the charges were filed, the state’s Republican leadership, including Governor Mary Fallin, called for his resignation. Shortey left his post on March 22, two weeks after being found with the boy in the hotel room.

Court documents show that the two transportation of child pornography charges stem from allegations that Shortey sent videos of a "prepubescent girl,” along with videos of young boys, from his email address in October 2013. The production of child pornography charge came after Shortey was alleged to have convinced a minor to send him an inappropriate photo.

The two-term former Oklahoma Republican state senator was first elected in 2010 on a “family values” conservative platform. According to the Associated Press, Shortey “routinely voted with his Republican colleagues on bills targeting gay and transgender people, including a measure passed earlier this year that would allow business owners to discriminate against gay people.”

Shortey is also known to be a pro-gun advocate, has been accused of being xenophobic and believed President Barack Obama’s birth certificate was false.

Shortey was an early endorser to Trump’s presidential campaign, pledging his support in October 2015. Soon after, the campaign named Shortey as part of its leadership team in Oklahoma.

According to The Daily Kos, Shortey’s shared a picture of him embracing Donald Trump Jr. on March 10, the day after he was found by police in the motel room with the teenage boy.

OMG!

Sorry, we can't talk about this right now, we're all tied up in a knot about Franken's rehearsal kiss.

My assertion has always been that sexual preferences has no party preferences. The part that pisses me off is " 'FAMILY VALUES' REPUBLICAN". It seems these God fearing con artists who legislate personal sexual preferences always have a dark stain that they are trying to remove from their own personality.

I agree. I've found that people who are very vocal about morals and values (i.e. politicians, highly religious people) often have big skeletons in their closet.

Many "extremists" here on Terb will argue that the republicans vs democrats, right vs left have a poorer track record, I believe that's all BS as this problem is universal.

Like the title of this thread - I'm not a Trump supporter - but why is Trump's name so prominent in the title and in the article? Trump has nothing to do with this story and this is just a subtle way to unfairly dirty his name.

Trump's name is there because he ran Trump's campaign in Oklahoma.

We've seen abusive men from all walks of lives these days, from Hollywood, to the CBC, to politicians. Its just that much more reprehensible when its someone who campaigns on an issue yet is guilty of it themselves, like the closet gay who publicly argues against same sex rights.

Also we have seen a right wing individual on this board insist that Pizzagate is a real child sex scandal, that was going to be reopened.
This was about two weeks ago. Strange how he did not bring up this case. Wonder what happened to the Pizzagate scandal.

So what? What has one to do with the other? Why aren't the more recent employers or other associates of Shortey prominently named in the title?

Let's cut the BS, The reason Trump's name is in this article is so that the Newsweek, wanted to bash Trump. Trump is allot of bad things, but trafficker or supporting the trafficking of child pornography ...... I doubt it very much and there's never been previous allegations. I don't like Trump, but this is just bad reporting.

IMHO, Trump is going to be around for at least 4 years. With the shape the Democrats are in maybe 8. Time to put aside the petty sh*t and try to get something done for the good of the USA. Every Time the press says something about Trump, the child gets defocused and goes on a twitter rant and nothing gets done. :fencing: Keep an eye of Trump for sure, if Mueller finds something meaningful - fine, but lets stop the petty sh*t.

Sure, I'd be all for it.

But first you've got to stop the orange guy from tweeting about kinds of petty shit, like who stands for the anthem at football games, how grateful people are when he does stuff or who Al Franken kissed.

Once you get him off the petty shit we can all start talking about the real issues, like how Trump is killing healthcare, filling the swamp with cronies and family and putting in tax breaks for his rich buddies on the backs of the middle class.

did you heard about this recent bust?

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities say a New Jersey corrections officer has been charged with receiving images of child sexual abuse.

Federal prosecutors said Thursday that 37-year-old Stephen Salamak was arrested at his home in Lodi.

Salamak has been suspended with pay from his job as a corrections officer at East Jersey State Prison in Rahway.

Prosecutors say an undercover officer first made contact with Salamak after he posted on Craigslist that he was looking for women and moms “that are into Cheese Pizza,” a reference to child pornography.

After police executed a search warrant on his email, prosecutors say they found an email with five attachments showing nude images of young girls.

Prosecutors say he admitted his crime after a search of his home.

Exactly, he invites this kind of thing.
It's not like those on the right are automatically linking Hollywood with liberals as well.

There's a dude with almost identical views on another board, but at least that guy admits to having past struggles with his mental health.

I take it that you aren't much into the news. Democrats trounced Republicans in the last series of state elections. This included seats in traditional GOP strongholds. Analysis suggest that dedicated Trump supporters still came out but were swamped by the 60% plus of the population who are not Trump supporters. Yes Democrats seem to flounder in hitting any kind of message but they won because of Trump's increasingly moronic leadership.

The only thing that could possibly help Trump is that instead of bashing Clinton and jailing her - he gets her to run again.

Trump has come out of his shell to endorse the paedophile Moore.
Guess he will pardon Ralph Shortey. These three are birds of the same feather.
