What a joke of a President. He just added $12k to the average car. LMAO, what a clown.

25%????? Can you imagine if Canada did something like put a 100% tariff on foreign cars? Wouldn't that be crazy in your opinion?

Chinese-made EVs are now subject to a 100% tariff.

Such an easy solution to all this.

Have all Canadians boycott US made cars starting today.
Have all Canadians buy EU or Asian cars starting today.
There are almost 2 million new cars bought by Canadians every year.
If everyone buys EU or Asian cars companies like VW, Audi, Toyota, Honda........etc will start setting up factories in Canada because it would be cheaper to manufacture their new cars here.
Have the government give the EU and Asian car manufacturers tax breaks and other incentives to set up their factories in Canada.
These EU and Asian car manufacturers can then move into the Canadian factories that were abandoned by US automakers.

Problem solved

In 10 years, which is about how long it takes to set up those factories.

Will Canada have the balls to place 25% tariffs on cars coming up from the US?
Or will they back down afraid of Trump raising the tariffs in retaliation?

Yeah...

Counting the fact that Mexican workers make on average 25k/year... It's still more profitable to keep the production in Mexico and let the tariffs in.

American companies will simply raise their price accordingly, knowing they will pocket the equivalent of the tariff. Much easier to make a quick profit and boost shares then to deal with adding production plants.

Peanuts.

Because they don't want the competition? BYD is blowing Tesla out of the water, on both Electric and Hybrid.

Whether a BYD is "better" than a Tesla depends on individual priorities, as both offer strengths and weaknesses. BYD, especially with its Blade Battery technology, is known for its competitive technology, safety features, and consistent build quality, while Tesla excels in cutting-edge technology and performance, with a strong charging network.

Here's a more detailed comparison:

BYD Strengths:
  • Blade Battery Technology:
BYD's Blade Battery is recognized for its safety and longevity, having passed rigorous tests.

  • Build Quality:
BYD is known for offering a more consistent and reliable build quality compared to some Tesla models.

  • Value:
BYD vehicles often offer competitive pricing and features, making them a potentially more affordable option.

  • Premium Interior:
Some BYD models, like the Seal, feature a premium interior with a more traditional look and feel.

  • Vertical Integration:
BYD's ability to drive down costs through vertical integration, owning battery and supply chains, contributes to lower costs and higher quality.

Tesla Strengths:
  • Technology and Performance: Tesla is known for its cutting-edge technology, electric vehicle performance, and innovative features.

  • Supercharger Network: Tesla's Supercharger network is praised for its reliability and efficiency, offering fast and convenient charging.

  • Brand Recognition: Tesla is a well-known and established brand in the EV space.

Specific Model Comparison (BYD Seal vs. Tesla Model 3):
  • Range:
The BYD Seal has a larger battery and a slightly longer range than the Tesla Model 3.

  • Charging:
The Tesla Model 3 has a faster DC charging rate, meaning quicker recharges.

  • Performance:
The BYD Seal has a slight edge in power and torque, but the Tesla Model 3 is lighter and offers similar acceleration in real-world driving.

  • Interior:
Some reviewers prefer the BYD Seal's more traditional and premium interior to the minimalist Tesla Model 3 interior.

Which one is "better"?
Ultimately, the "better" choice depends on your priorities:
  • If you prioritize safety, reliability, and a more traditional interior: BYD might be a better choice.

  • If you value cutting-edge technology, performance, and a strong charging network: Tesla might be a better choice.

  • If you want a more affordable option: BYD often offers competitive pricing.

  • If you want a car with a larger battery and a longer range: BYD Seal has a larger battery than the Tesla Model 3

That's one problem with BYD. The starting price of their EV car is so low that it could very well cause absolute chaos on our roads. I mean, in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, there is already a nightmare of traffic on the roads. Can you imagine bringing a car that would make Uber, taxis, and shareable cars obsolete?? The monthly price of a loan would be so low that we would all prefer to buy our own than using Uber/Taxi or renting a car once in a while.
