PM is fine for the initial contact but I find email less restricted and more forgiving of errors. My connection to the internet has in past caused me to attempt to resend some messagea more than twice.

Any members planning to travel to the DR in early may contact me through pm and maybe we can link up. Our group has traveled there 2-3 per year hobbying primarily in the south. The country is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the women are beautiful as well.

You should be very careful about the Dominican. In University, my friend went there for a vacation and got caught smoking one joint outside a bar. They put him in jail for 6 weeks and they knew his family was wealthy. Besides the lawyers fees, it cost them $125 K to bribe the cops and get him out of jail and back on a plane home.

It is still safe, say no to drugs and stick with the girls, been there about a dozen times in the last couple of years, no problems. I stayed in rented condos, not on resorts.

I guess it depends on the trip you're looking for. If you're there alone or with with one friend and just plan on relaxing, you should be fine. Just be careful about getting rowdy or causing any trouble at any of the popular night clubs. They take that very seriously there with tourists and the 5 feet tall cops with big guns will use it as an excuse to fuck with the you, steal your jewellery, cash,etc.

DR Police

A while ago our PoliTur Captain now Major told me of an overnight bust. Two Americans were stopped in a Ford Excursion that also contained 170Kg of Cocaine. In all 28 were arrested. The FBI and the Venezuelan police were also involved. I am sure the Policia Nacional were involved. Members of the Policia Nacional and PoliTur are friends.

Add illegal use of drugs to list of things that really stupid people do while in DR. Jail here is not as much fun as it is in US and Canada!

I had a motoconcho driver offer me cociane once. NO GRACIAS!

BTW There is no such thing as an illegal drug. Just illegal use of ... drugs.

Mexico Again

If new reports are accurate two Canadian in Mexico were injured from tray bullets in gun play unrelated to them. The incident was just bad luck.

Also in the news was a Canadian that was injured and robbed in Punta Cana RD. The primary cause of this incident was that the gentleman involved was suffering from terminal stupidity.

As noted in an earlier post by Master Baiter his actions were nothing more than "Rob me! I am rich and Stupid"

I remember last year around May or so that 8 peeps got killed in one night just outside Shedden Ontario. I think a lot of people on this board here have to be careful to go out at night. Canada is dangerous!

I did lots of research and decided to take a trip and my thoughts are... your better off going to montreal. Every girl in the dr will try to rip you off. And for a poor country... those girls charge a fortune. When I added everything up it came to about $5000 for one week.

it's not worth it. trust me. a two min taxi ride is $30 us... its ridiculous

The girls can ask for a "fortune" and so can the taxi drivers but nobody forced you to pay.

For $30 US, I can get a taxi to drive me around for 2-3 hours.
Even the expensive airport tourist taxis charge $30 US for a 30-40 minute drive.
If you paid $30 US for a 2 minute ride, you would probably get ripped off anywhere you go, not just the DR.

Just for you guys up north. Damn cold is a day when the morning temerature is 68 F

It is great here. The beer, rum, food, resort, weather, and the chicas are all great. For me this is where I work. If work is what you call it.
