Agreed, mediocre #'s at best. Most importantly, none have really "won" anything of significance.

if TMac got to vote he would end up with 1 vote, Putting him in would be a slap in the face to the greats in there.

Not a chance. I don't think Vince is a HOFer either.
I'd vote Vince in before McGrady. For a guy that is most known for his scoring, a career under 20 pts/game and not in the top 50 all-time, I'd be surprised if anyone could make half an argument for his credentials.

How do you put somebody in the HOF when that player has never seen the second round of the playoffs ?

I would put Vince in before McGrady but don't think Carter will make the Hall of Fame either. They fall into the Mitch Richmond category and he won a ring but wasn't a real contributor to the 2002 Lakers team that won.

Exactly. That, as well as his effect on the franchise and league (as short as it was) is where Vince gets the votes and Tracy does not. Not saying that Vince should get in (he shouldn't) but his career intangibles (as short as his good years really were) are better than T-Mac's.

Kind of interesting to reflect. Would both of them have been better off if they learned to work together in Toronto? They were the perfect complement to each other. Perhaps they might have won a championship - at least a long playoff run or two.

McGrady should have walked away when the injuries mounted and robbed him of his athleticism. You look at his numbers during his prime (2000-2007) and they were impressive. The guy was averaging 24-6-6 during that stretch, including a 32ppg season in 2003. I'm surprised that with his ego he's letting his numbers and legacy erode by being a bench player getting 5 points a game.

Could not agree more. I think they would definitely have lead the Raptors to two or three deep runs in the NBA playoffs ... maybe a even a championship.

As to the point of this thread .... no. No HOF for T-Mac or VC. Agree with the general consensus, numbers not good enough.

No way for either, but if one were to go in, I think T-Mac was the better player over the duration of his career. Carter was the more exciting to begin his career but after McGrady went to Orlando, I think he became the superior player.

If McGrady wanted to be "The Man", then I could see why he would leave. Carter was too big at the time. It would have always been Vince's team.

Wilkins is in. Webb?? Let's just say that Carter, McGrady, and Shawn Kemp have better shots.

What impact has McGrady truly had in the NBA or any team that he's been on?

Scoring gets headlines.
Defence wins games
Teamwork wins championships

Before Carter or McGrady being considered for anything except whiner of the century, there are many that deserve to be inducted to HoF.

Robert Horry 7 Championships with the Rockets, Spurs and Lakers and he contributed as a starter and off the bench.
Steve Kerr 5 Championships with the Bulls and Spurs
Michael Cooper 5 Championships with the Lakers
Jamaal Wilkes 4 Championships with the Lakers & he should get in for winning one with Golden State in 1975.

Akeem Olajuwon, Kurt Rambis, Bill Laimbeer should be in there before the clowns that left town are considered.

I don't think either should go in.

Only thing about T MAc is I think he had one season where his efficiency rating was off the charts. Other than that they are both guys you put around another player not one that you build a team around.

I think of Carmelo Anthony the same way.

Lebron I build a team around. Melo I look to add him to the team...... maybe *given the NY experience I wouldn't have him fuck up my team chemistry

No way McGrady gets in... that's nuts. Maybe if his career wasn't cut short with injuries and he put up a few more 25+ pt seasons... then maybe

Too bad him and Yao Ming couldn't have stayed healthy. The Rockets would have been a crazy dynasty.
