Toyota is introducing the Star Safety System on all its cars. It delivers 5 safety features on every car Toyota will manufacture.

http://www.toyota.com/safety/star-safety-system/

- Vehicle Stability Control.
- Traction Control.
- Anti-Lock Braking System Control.
- Electronic Brake Force Distribution Control
- Brake Assist.

I think these added features may just bring their reputation back and re-estabish them as a safe value added car manufacturer.

No one got hysterical with the GM and Ford recalls. The media made sure everyone knew of Toyota's. And just like that, therre are no more cases of unintended acceleration.

Yes, but now all Toyota cars will come with all five safety features. Even the bottom of the range Yaris will come with the Star Safety System. Toyota has raised the bar and the competitors will have to meet and beat this new standard. I can not think of a better way for Toyota to recuperate their reputation.

First they pay off the Toronto Star, now this? How much did they pay you to post this drivel about a company that deserves to rot in hell?

The 2006 Corolla has the last three.

This is all party of a North American advertising campaign to appease their customer base. You can see it on TV.

More systems that could screw up and cause accidents driven by unskilled drivers down the road.

Toyota or Honda are world well known brands of vehicles, they would remain ever popular all around the globe, their products are fantastic
reliable, durable, economical, plus their availability of parts and services are the best, therefore they would always remain popular amongst the masses. They do not rip-off their clients like the posh car dearler's to have an oil change, filter and general inspection the user pay's a bill of under $100, whereas if a client who has a Mercedes the dealer would rip him off for not less than $ 1000 on just general servicing on their 15,000 Kms whereas with Toyota & Honda we have to change its oil and filter within 8000 Kms, still very economical and it drives very well and its pretty comfortable in the present hard times.

Kudos to Toyota for making vehicle stability control standard. Studies have shown that VSC saves lives.

However, to brag that it is giving all customers 5 safety features is marketing drivel. Vehicle stability control is essentially a sophisticated version of traction control and ABS. In other words, if you have VSC, you must also have traction control and ABS.

Stability control is becoming mandatory in many countries (including Canada) on new vehicles in the next few years.. I believe in Canada its mid-2011.
